Barack Obama, Tom Brady and other legends react to Boston Celtics passing Lakers for most NBA titles, Magic Johnson is disappointed

The Boston Celtics winning the NBA title has put them at the top of the basketball world. This is limited not only to this season but to NBA history as well. The Celtics thus became the 1st franchise in history to win 18 titles. This is not a small feat considering the competitiveness of the sport. Therefore, it was not unnatural for the who’s who of the world to come out and talk about it. Barack Obama and Tom Brady are some of them.

The former President of the United States of America was one of the 1st to congratulate the win.

Congrats to the new champs, the Boston Celtics! 18 titles is no easy feat – well deserved.

Considering how big a fan of the game Barack Obama is, he was commending an achievement that currently has no equal. He was joined by the greatest football player ever, Tom Brady to come out with a message of his own.

This message in particular has great significance. Tom Brady played for the New England Patriots. The NFL franchise is based out in Foxboro, which is adjacent to Boston.

This means, teams based out of the New England region, have been winning titles for the past 2 decades. More than any other state or region in any of the big sporting leagues in America. The Boston Celtics won title no. 18 after beating out the Dallas Mavericks on their home court by a double-digit difference.

After Game 4 of the Finals though, there was optimism on the part of Los Angeles Lakers legends and fans. They were rooting for the Dallas Mavericks to stop the Celtics from obtaining bragging rights.

Magic Johnson disappointed after Boston Celtics take title No. 18

Who better than Magic Johnson, one of the most storied Los Angeles Lakers legends, to show that disappointment? After all, he knows they cannot say that the Purple and Gold are the best team in the NBA anymore.

I hate that the Celtics officially have more championships than us now.

Naturally, this championship hurt them. They know the onus is on their team to match and overtake their longtime rivals to reclaim that status.

Johnson knows that now the Boston Celtics faithful will rub it into the faces of Lakers fans and legends at every opportunity. This rivalry has defined and established the NBA as the most competitive basketball league in the world.

For now, the Boston Celtics will be celebrating their victory. A fully deserved NBA title after years of disappointments.
