Since the summer of 2024, there has been intense discussion regarding The Lucha Bros, Penta and Rey Fenix. At that time, the former AEW World Tag Team Champions were closing in on a move to WWE, as their contracts were set to expire. However, CEO Tony Khan made the bold move to add on injury time to both of their deals. Since then, Fenix has attempted to gain an early release to no avail while Penta’s deal expired, as he even made his WWE debut.

Joining in on the conversation, former WWE star Baron Corbin recently offered his own thoughts on the situation. Surprisingly, Corbin defended the billionaire’s controversial decision. The former United States Champion sent out a plethora of tweets on X, claiming that every wrestler needed to honor their respective contracts. As for the injury time added by Khan, Corbin said that this is a common occurrence in almost every major wrestling promotion.

Corbin responded to fans criticizing his comments, questioning their experience in the wrestling industry. According to the 40-year-old wrestler, users shouldn’t speculate on the situation. Moreover, only Tony Khan and Fenix knew what had gone on behind the scenes since last year. Although Corbin changes some fans’ perspective on the matter, others did not appreciate his opinion on it.

Corbin was let go by WWE in 2024 after his contract expired. Since then, he’s been working on the independent circuit, even wrestling on last night’s GCW Hammerstein show. The Lone Wolf could sign with other promotions, such as TNA or AEW, considering his experience.

As for Fenix, his situation has not changed. The former International Champion is expected to remain in AEW until the end of the year. In fact, AEW recently removed all of his merchandise on its website, indicating that they do not have any plans to utilize him for the foreseeable future.

How did Rey Fenix’s brother, Penta, fare in his WWE debut?

On last week’s episode of Raw, Penta finally made his much-anticipated debut for WWE. Introduced as Chad Gable‘s mystery opponent, the former AEW star immediately showcased his strengths in front of a rabid San Francisco crowd.

Initially, reports stated that he went overtime, which garnered him backstage heat. However, other sources denied these claims, suggesting that several people were happy for the Luchador. Moreover, multiple top talents have even pitched ideas to creative for a future showdown with Penta.
