Former WWE star suggests Goldberg as 14-time World Champion’s opponent at WrestleMania 41 after recent turmoil on SmackDown

A former WWE Superstar has surprisingly picked Goldberg as Randy Orton's brand-new WrestleMania opponent after Kevin Owens' injury.

Last week on SmackDown, a big-time WrestleMania showdown between Randy Orton and Kevin Owens got scrapped after the latter announced that he’d need to undergo neck surgery. GM Nick Aldis had to break it to The Viper that he might be left off The Grandest Stage of Them All after Owens’ withdrawal. Orton hit Aldis with an RKO as a knee-jerk reaction and left.

Since then, the fans have been wondering who should be the ideal replacement for The Prizefighter against Orton. Former WWE star Baron Corbin (real name Tom Pestock) believes it has to be Goldberg. However, here’s the catch. It’s highly possible that The Lone Wolf might just be trolling with his pitch of Goldberg taking on The Apex Predator.

The Icon has left a bad taste with most of the modern-day WWE talent. Although he’s entitled to a retirement match later this year, Bill’s not on WWE’s radar for WrestleMania as of now. The 58-year-old recently started in-ring training at Black Diamonds Martial Arts Academy, situated in Texas.

It’s evident that the Hall of Famer is leaving no stone unturned to get back to ring shape. Goldberg last wrestled over three years ago at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia. The WCW great succumbed to a formidable Roman Reigns, who showed no respite for the veteran by applying his guillotine choke-hold.

Bill has credited WWE CCO Triple H for his reconciliation with the company following Vince McMahon‘s ouster. Hunter and Goldberg were in the ring together last year at Bad Blood, after which speculation triggered that they might be back on working terms.

Is Randy Orton expected to miss WrestleMania 41?

Despite last week’s injury announcement of Kevin Owens leaving Randy Orton with nothing to do at WrestleMania, the 45-year-old isn’t expected to be left off the card. Nick Aldis teased in a recent social media video that he’d address the situation on-air. The rumors of Aldis potentially taking on Randy at WrestleMania are rampant at the moment.

Nick, 38, is a far cry from being retired and could have a go at The Legend Killer if it’s in the plans. However, if not the general manager himself, he might ask someone to fight Orton on his behalf. Things might clear up as soon as this Friday on SmackDown, with WrestleMania barely a week or so away.

In one of the most bizarre stats, The Viper hasn’t registered a singles PLE win since WrestleMania 37, where he defeated “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. However, it also needs to be taken into account that Orton was out of action for eighteen months after undergoing a back fusion surgery. He returned at Survivor Series in 2023, the same night as CM Punk.

Could Sheamus end up being Randy Orton’s WrestleMania opponent?

Sheamus has been of the most glaring omissions on the road to WrestleMania 41. He last competed in the men’s Royal Rumble match. At one point, it was rumored that he’d challenge for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania. However, with that no longer happening, what does he have left to do?

The Celtic Warrior took to X yesterday and simply posted that he’s available. It has quashed any injury concerns some thought he might be dealing with. That said, the comment section of his post is flooded with a number of people demanding Sheamus to wrestle Randy Orton at The Show of Shows in Las Vegas.

These veterans haven’t mixed it up in quite some time. So it’d be a fresh matchup for both if done right. But as of now, it’s nothing but fantasy booking. If Sheamus doesn’t make it to WrestleMania, it’d be a shame, especially with the kind of year he’s had since returning last April.
