Battlegrounds Mobile India: Krafton to shut down data transfer with Facebook accounts

Krafton Inc. the developer of Battlegrounds Mobile India has recently released a notice where it claims that people having BGMI accounts linked with Facebook in the embedded browser of Android devices won’t be able to transfer their data from September 28th, 2021.

Battlegrounds Mobile India has been able to make a mark in the eSports industry even after several political authorities asked for a ban on this game as they considered the game to be a threat to the nation’s security. Krafton is leaving no stone unturned to comply with the laws of Indian government, therefore it is taking care of the privacy policies of different applications. Krafton is cautious about the privacy of Indian users, as a result of which, it had enabled the data transfer of PUBG Mobile accounts to Battlegrounds Mobile India.

The data transfer process was halted temporarily but was started again after some days. Players having their PUBG Mobile accounts linked with Facebook and Twitter were able to transfer their data but Facebook users apparently wont be able to transfer their data from September, 28th.

Krafton has posted a notice regarding the Data transfer that they are stopping the migration process for accounts linked with Facebook in the embedded browser of Android devices, which means that players who don’t have the Facebook app installed in their device and if their account is linked with Facebook, they won’t be able to login to the game after October 5th, 2021.

Krafton had earlier informed the players that the data migration process will be available till 31st December,2021. However, the data transfer process of accounts linked with Facebook will shut down once the makers release the patch notice on September 28th, 2021. This action has been taken in accordance with the policy update related to the Facebook SDK.

The official post reads as- 

"We would like to request you to proceed with the data transfer before September 28th if you wish to do it using your Facebook linked account. Also, after October 5th, logins will be disabled unless the Facebook App is installed on your device; we apologize for the inconvenience, but please install the Facebook App to use the game."

This notice is not relevant to iOS users as Battlegrounds Mobile India was launched in iOS just a few days ago. iOS users can transfer their data linked with Facebook accounts. But it is also important to note that Krafton is set to give us more updates regarding the notice, so iOS users should also transfer their data as soon as they can.

As stated above, login with Facebook in the embedded browser will be disabled after October 5th, 2021. Therefore, players should transfer their data before the action comes into effect.
