Klay Thompson silences critics with a scorching display, sinking seven three-pointers in the first quarter before an electrified home crowd.
Klay Thomspon sinks 7 threes in 1st quarter
In Monday’s matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Wizards, Klay Thompson reminded Dallas natives why he is one of the “Splash Brothers” and will always be one of the best sharpshooters the game has ever seen. Captain Klay, the record holder for the most three-pointers made in a single game with 14, delivered another spectacular performance from beyond the arc, further adding to his legend.
During the first quarter of Monday’s game, Thompson launched a salvo of 3-pointers, draining a staggering seven 3s in a single quarter. After the game, reporters congratulated the 34-year-old during the post-game media conference and reminded the star that he’s been doing this for over a decade now.

This spectacular exhibition by the veteran forward was reminiscent of his prime and glory days, when the entire league feared the Klay-Curry duo for their relentless barrage of threes from all corners of the court. These two are also credited with inspiring the modern era’s style of play in the NBA.
Thompson ended the night with 23 points, with 21 of those coming from an impressive 7-of-12 shooting from deep. In just 24 minutes of floor time, he also grabbed three rebounds, dished out four assists to his teammates, and recorded one clean strip.
Klay Thomspon lauds Kobe Bryant’s legacy on his death anniversary
Growing up in California, it was natural for the young Thompson to idolize the Los Angeles Lakers’ late great Kobe Bryant. On the eve of the fifth anniversary of Kobe’s passing, Thompson reflected on Mamba’s legacy. Giving a shout-out to the number 24, the Mavericks forward spoke about how Kobe had recognized Luka Doncic‘s greatness early on.

“Kobe was one of the most intelligent athletes to ever grace this earth…My memories of Kobe are very fond…That’s the first thing I told Luka when we met. I was like man I knew you were gonna be special because he brought Kobe out of the house to… pic.twitter.com/a7ppIigvqi
Calling Bryant his “GOAT,” the California native disclosed how hard it was for him to bear the pain of losing someone he worshipped as a kid. Nonetheless, Kobe left him with a meaningful surprise: Luka Magic. Thompson’s assessment of Doncic may have skewed his decision to join the Mavericks at the time, and it may soon start to pay huge dividends if the Mavs can make it to the NBA Finals again, like last season.
