The Polish striker pounced on a poorly judged back pass after nine minutes to steer in his 72nd goal in the competition. Lewandowski is now only behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the Champions league scoring charts.

Bayern’s 17-year-old midfielder Jamal Musiala doubled their advantage with a well-taken strike that made him the youngest English player to score in the competition. Leroy Sane tapped in a third before the break and a Francesco Acerbi own goal stretched the visitors’ advantage early in the second half. Joaquin Correa soon pulled one back for Lazio but the goal was nothing but s consolation for the Italian outfit.

“We are a huge step closer to the quarter-finals,” Bayern coach Hansi Flick told Sky.

Bayern Munich have almost secured their qualification into the Quarter finals of the Champions league. Lazio will need nothing but a miracle if they are to overcome the 3 goal deficit when they face Bayern in Germany on 18th March.
