Here we take a look at both the sides’ strengths and weaknesses and their road to final:

Paris Saint-Germain – Road to Final

The Paris Saint-Germain side often trolled for their failures in the Champions League have finally made it to the final. After spending all their “Arab money” as they say, tonight is the time to prove the world that it was money well spent. The Key factor for PSG this season was the availability of Neymar for the knockout stages having missed out previously.

After topping the group consisting of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain arrived high on confidence in the knockout stages. After overcoming the challenges against Dortmund, Atalanta, and Leipzig, they are ready for the final. Arguably, the final against FC Bayern will be the biggest clash in the club’s history.

Semi-finals: Defeated Leipzig 3-0

Strengths of the PSG side

PSG’s strength is their attack. If PSG are to win their first ever Champions League, Neymar and Mbappe will have to be at their best. On their day, the two superstars can break-open any defence in the world. Supported by the ever reliable Di Maria, the attacking trio needs to deliver on the biggest stage to get the win.

Weaknesses of the PSG side

As good as their attack is, the defence is not upto the mark. They have the experience in Thiago Silva and Marquinhos, but Bayern can hurt them through the wings. Bernat and Kehrer are not the best of full backs, and they will be up against likes of Gnabry and Davies. For PSG to win, they need their defence to be at the best otherwise Lewandowski can give them nightmares.

Bayern Munich – Road to the Final

Bayern Munich are considered one of the biggest clubs in the world. However, their Champions League record has been disappointing over the years. After winning the treble in 2013, they were knocked out thrice in the semi final stages. Now, with Hansi Flick rejuvenating the side and the Polish sensation leading the charge, they have a real chance.

Having thrashed Barcelona 8-2 in the quarterfinals will be an added boost for the Bavarians. The side has looked solid in attack and will have to deliver once again to clinch the title.

Bayern will have records in their sights today. They will look to become only the 2nd club to win the treble twice after FC Barcelona. Victory today will be Bayern’s 6th overall and a first after 7 years.

Quarterfinals: Defeated FC Barcelona 8-2

Semi-finals: Defeated Lyon 3-0

Strengths of the Bayern side

The biggest weapon that Bayern Munich have is Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has been the best player in the world this season. To support him, Muller has got his form back and Gnabry has been a revelation.

Together, they form one of the most potent attack in Europe. Goals have been easy to come by for FC Bayern, and it will be their attack again which can win them the title.

Weaknesses of the Bayern Side

The one issue that was witnessed against Barcelona and Lyon was the high-line defence. Lyon manager, Rudi Garcia rued his side’s missed chances which cost them the match. It was true, Lyon caught Bayern on the counter but could not take their chances.

However, their will be a different French side today. A certain Kylian Mbappe can punish the Germans if he is given a sniff at the high-line defence. The full backs, Kimmich and Davies will have a task at their hands to stop PSG’s counters. That is a key area where Bayern can be caught, as witnessed in the last match.

All in all, the stage is set in Lisbon for the biggest match of European football. The Champions League final is ready to deliver action-packed football for 90 minutes, yet again. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain will battle it out for the Champions League 2020.
