After several years of fans and superstars clamoring for it, WWE finally introduced a new women’s midcard title. On the latest episode of SmackDown, GM Nick Aldis revealed the Women’s United States Championship to the WWE Universe. Taking note of this historic announcement, one of the veterans of the women’s division, Bayley, reacted to the news.

Bayley took to her X account to highlight how big of a moment this was for the female stars in WWE. Moreover, The Role Model was proud of how far the division has come. A pioneer of the women’s revolution in WWE, this moment wouldn’t have been possible without Bayley. Alongside the likes of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks, the 35-year-old star helped significantly propel women’s wrestling to new heights.

Having won almost everything there is in WWE, Bayley could set her sights on becoming the inaugural US Champion. However, Aldis didn’t specify any further details regarding the title, including how the winner would be crowned. The commentary team did allude to it being a multi-brand championship that will float around both Raw and SmackDown.

WWE introduced the women’s tag titles in 2019. Although the move was appreciated, it ended up creating a vacuum between the world title picture and the tag team division. Therefore, fans had been advocating for a midcard championship for a long time. With a bloated female roster, there are numerous stars lining up to showcase their talent by gunning for the Women’s US Championship.

Bayley outsmarts her ‘role model’ on WWE SmackDown

Since losing against Nia Jax at Bad Blood, Bayley has entered into a rivalry against someone she idolizes, Candice LeRae. This kickstarted after the latter pinned the former Women’s Champion during a tag team match. On the latest episode of SmackDown, the two finally squared off in a one-on-one match.

The closing stretch saw Bayley outsmart The Poison Pixie. LeRae faked an injury, hoping to catch her opponent off guard. However, Bayley was aware of the situation as she countered a rollup attempt to pick up the win.

Despite her loss, fans are finally pleased to see LeRae being showcased on the main roster. In fact, many believe it was Bayley who might’ve pushed for a feud with the Women’s Speed Champion. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see where LeRae’s newly found momentum leads.
