Ricky Saints, who worked for All Elite Wrestling since mid-2020 as Ricky Starks, recently made his WWE debut a couple of weeks ago. On top of that, The Absolute One celebrated his 35th birthday on Thursday. Underneath that post on X, Bayley dropped an interesting reply, where she claimed she’d take him out for his first drink that night.
She did keep her promise and even posted a clip from her date with Saints. By the looks of it, they had a blast. As evident from her WWE tenure, Bayley‘s one of the most welcoming and well-liked women across the roster. She’s famously friends with almost everyone among her peers, and she might’ve just found another one in the former AEW star.
Ricky’s 2025 has begun with a bang. A couple of months into it, he’s landed a WWE contract. Even though he didn’t keep his second name, viz., Starks, he clarified that Saints is meant to pay homage to his birth city of New Orleans. This past Tuesday on NXT, he officially put pen to paper and is all set for his NXT in-ring debut.
He’ll join forces with Je’Von Evans to take on Ethan Page and Wes Lee next week. It’d be Saints’ first bout in a major wrestling promotion since having his AEW swansong in late March last year. He did compete on the indies, few and far between. The moment he was taken off AEW programming, the fans grew disgruntled with Tony Khan.
He kept dodging the bullet and allegedly thought Ricky had already made up his mind to leave for WWE due to his close ties with Cody Rhodes. Khan is still viewed in a negative light by Saints’ fans for not letting him quit the company amicably.
Why did Ricky Saints leave AEW?
The first interview Ricky Saints did post-WWE jump was on Busted Open Radio with host Bully Ray, aka Bubba Ray Dudley. During the conversation, he explained how he grew apart from his former workplace.

The 35-year-old made stunning claims about anonymous AEW veterans interfering in his creative plans. While he didn’t drag anyone specifically, the netizens are guessing it could be any of the guys, including Chris Jericho or even Adam “Edge” Copeland, or simply Cope.
Adam notoriously called Ricky a vanilla midget ripoff of The Rock on live television in October 2023. The Absolute One tried to return the favor, but Copeland’s dig had already done the damage. Saints also mentioned CM Punk‘s AEW firing as a major reason for not wanting to work in place anymore.
