Having not wrestled formally in over a year could be tantalizing for anyone. However, not for the woman known as Mercedes Mone. On Sunday, she outwitted longtime rival Willow Nightingale at AEW Double or Nothing. Following the pay-per-view, prez Tony Khan threw a swanky bash to commemorate The CEO’s AEW in-ring debut. At the party, Mone’s bestie and WWE Women’s Champion Bayley was also present.

The two couldn’t be more delighted as evident by the following picture. Yet another former colleague of Mercedes who couldn’t be there in-person was Naomi. However, the latter did bestow her blessings on the new AEW TBS Champion in quite a smirky manner. It’s worth noting that Mercedes Mone picked up an unfortunate injury the last time she battled Willow at NJPW Resurgence.

Their latest chapter descended in Las Vegas in a wrestling haven crammed with boisterous individuals. It must’ve been a feelgood moment for the former Sasha Banks after proving her naysayers wrong. She had been previously marred with a bunch of online trolling. Nonetheless, all well that ends well is what the California native might be sticking with.

On the post-show press conference, Mone alluded to how agonizing the past few months have been for her. She also said that WWE isn’t the only place one should look at. Instead, like a true company woman, she put AEW in limelight affirming it as the place where the best wrestle. And sitting beside her was Tony Khan, who was grinning ear to ear at every ounce of validation from The Boss. It would be interesting to see how the multi-time Women’s Champion fares from here on.

Will Mercedes Mone ever return to WWE?

Even though Mercedes Mone walked out of WWE on bitter terms back in 2022, she doesn’t seem to have any ill-will for her former workplace. Instead, just days before debuting in AEW at Big Business, the 32-year-old was a guest on the Kick Rocks Wrestling Podcast.

During the conversation, she explicitly stated that she’d be back in WWE one day. The Blueprint said there’s some unfinished business to be dealt with. By that, one could deduce that she hasn’t had her swansong in the Stamford-based promotion just yet.

However, those comments allegedly rubbed some people the wrong way in AEW. But as long as Mone can help augment the financial metrics of the Jacksonville-based promotion, what she does outside of the ring wouldn’t trouble her.
