This past Saturday night at Wrestlepalooza, AJ Lee competed in her first WWE match in over a decade. She teamed up with her husband, CM Punk, to take on the duo of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. In arguably the most entertaining clash of the weekend, Lee made Lynch tap out to the ‘Black Widow’ submission maneuver. But the Irish lady has come up with a conspiracy theory of her own.
‘The Man’ took to X and called out the blatant bias of the so-called crooked women’s referee, Jessica Carr. To support her claims of bias, Lynch posted a couple of pictures Carr took with Punk, one of which was clicked when the female referee was quite young and almost unrecognizable. Lynch tried to establish the fact that Carr has been a lifelong fan of ‘The Best in the World’.
But that was not all from the women’s IC champion. In fact, she began her complaint by saying that she got stung by a rogue bee at the end of the match. The Limerick-born wrestler also posted a short clip of the sequence where she tapped out to Lee. However, as per her logic, that was due to the ‘vicious winged predator’ who ambushed her.

Becky, you tapped out.
And it’s not just me saying it. 🤷🏼♀️ https://t.co/RjYNdZYGQl
Moreover, she called out the referee for being crooked and biased toward ‘The Crazy Chick’ and her legendary husband. In response, Carr hit back at the WrestleMania main eventer by asserting that she indeed tapped out. By making Lynch tap out, Lee avenged the amount of disrespect that was hurled at Punk in recent weeks.
What has been AJ Lee’s prime agenda since her WWE return?
AJ Lee circled back to WWE barely three weeks ago at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. She put her hands on Becky Lynch that night and made it look like she hadn’t lost a beat. The following Monday on Raw, the New Jersey native cut a live promo basically introducing herself to anyone and everyone who might not have been aware of who she was.

The former Divas Champion segued into why she needed to step away from in-ring competition in 2015. The answer was simple. She wasn’t in a very good place mentally, and Lee had to undergo therapy to overcome the negative thoughts that had started to trouble her.
Having personally felt what it’s like to go through that phase, the ‘Black Widow’ told those affected that their life is worth living and they’re worth it as well. She spoke on similar lines during the Wrestlepalooza post-show.
AJ Lee speaks on the connection she’s been able to have with fans and be part of their mental health journeys:

“The most meaningful thing I can ever do is connect with my fans, particularly with young women, and connect on the mental health topic. It’s the greatest thing I will… pic.twitter.com/vchifRPXKP
Lee, accompanied by CM Punk, stated that connecting with her fans is the most meaningful thing she could do in her life. The topic of mental healing, especially among younger women, holds a special place in Lee’s heart.
The 38-year-old told them that she’s a part of their journeys and they’re not alone in this. Lee just wants to give it back to her fans, as they didn’t leave her high and dry at a time when she needed them the most.
How CM Punk convinced AJ Lee to make her WWE return?
It almost took two years for CM Punk to convince AJ Lee that it was high time she got back into wrestling. But how exactly did Punk do it? During an interview with ESPN prior to Wrestlepalooza, the former AEW star revealed that he told his wife that WWE was no longer the mess it was when she left the company.

In fact, he worded it by saying that the Stamford-based promotion had completely changed for the better. Moreover, the fact that several women who got into this business by idolizing Lee are currently active on the WWE roster and had been continuously rooting for the ‘Crazy Chick’ to come back made Punk tell Lee that she needed to return to see it with her own eyes.
CM Punk reveals what he told AJ Lee to help convince her to return to WWE:

"Honestly, it was one of those things where I told her that the place was 180 degrees, maybe 360, I don't know, different than when she left it.
"And all these wrestlers that really grew up watching her,… pic.twitter.com/6zkVMgYQ1v
The likes of Roxanne Perez, Bayley, Zelina Vega, etc., have already let their feelings be known regarding what Lee’s return means to them. In fact, one of Lee’s most fierce rivals back in the day viz., Nikki Bella, has also expressed major interest in getting to share the ring with the ‘Black Widow’ once again. It’d be interesting to see if it ever happens.
