The Seth Rollins injury fakeout that culminated in the ‘Ruse of the Century’ at SummerSlam last month has proved to be an unrelenting success in hindsight. It could have been a flop had Becky Lynch not played her part to perfection. The latter, who often gets referred to by Rollins as his ‘hot Irish wife’ these days, underscored the struggles with lying about her husband’s injury.

Speaking to ESPN, the women’s Intercontinental Champion said that she resorted to being a twitchy weirdo for covering up lies whenever her manager or their fellow WWE stars used to inquire about Rollins’ well-being. She was consequently stumbling over her words and couldn’t muster up suitable responses for the most part.

His dad, aunts and uncles were texting me, all of our friends and colleagues were wishing him well and I tried not to lie. But then they’d give me follow-up questions about if he was having surgery and had he gone for an MRI. It became very difficult and, honestly, I did not like it.

Things started getting worse for Lynch when the family intervention started. She was receiving a downpour of texts from Rollins’ father, aunts, and uncles, let alone their friends, to check on ‘The Visionary’. She said she tried her best not to lie, but the follow-up questions regarding Rollins’ potential surgery and MRI checks exacerbated the cause for the Irishwoman.

It had gotten stressful for ‘Big Time Becks’, and she didn’t like that at all. But the mental turmoil was worth it when she saw ‘The Architect’ making that run down the aisle at SummerSlam to cash in his Money in the Bank contract.

Rollins pinned a wrecked CM Punk to become a six-time world champion in WWE. Lynch’s backstage reaction to that moment was hilariously priceless. She trolled everyone who fell for some of her misleading social media posts about Rollins.

Becky Lynch’s synergy with Seth Rollins will be tested at Wrestlepalooza

The on-screen pairing of Becky Lynch with Seth Rollins resumed after that shocking conclusion to Clash in Paris. ‘The Man’ sneaked her way into the Fatal-4-Way main event for the world title and helped Rollins retain the gold by going low on CM Punk. The latter was embarrassed and slapped multiple times in his interaction with the ‘Irish Lass Kicker’ on the subsequent episode of Raw.

The ‘Best in the World’, however, promised that there would be consequences to it. That led to the long-awaited return of AJ Lee on SmackDown later that week. She came back to a deafening ovation from the Chicago crowd and went on to assault Lynch in some fashion.

The following Monday on Raw, Lee and Punk officially challenged Lynch and Rollins to a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza. It was the same night on Raw that saw Lee speak in a WWE arena for the first time in over a decade.

‘The Crazy Chick’ underscored the need for mental healing for those going through it and advocated for therapy if necessary. She got interrupted by Lynch and Rollins in succession. ‘The Architect’ took the onus to bring back his wife’s IC title belt from Lee, as the latter had seized it on SmackDown. Rollins’ advancements bore no fruit, and he snapped to a point where he issued a warning to the former Divas Champion.

However, Punk made his way out, walked past a trash-talking Lynch at ringside, and lifted The Vision’s leader on his shoulders for a GTS. Rollins barely escaped and made a beeline for his wife. This past Monday on Raw, four of them got into one another’s faces yet again.

The segment was designed to cast doubt over Lee’s physical condition, as she hadn’t taken a wrestling bump in over 10 years. But that didn’t stop her from smacking Rollins right across his face.

The World Heavyweight Champion smirked and said he had someone to take care of that on his behalf. Rollins was, of course, alluding to ‘The Man’, who didn’t appear too willing to make the move and, in fact, started yelling at the Iowa native for the mess they’ve gotten themselves into.

That was a trap, as the segment ended with Lynch planting Lee with a Manhandle Slam. When Punk came over to check on his wife, he got slapped by ‘Big Time Becks’ once again.
