Becky Lynch suffered a bitter defeat at the hands of Lyra Valkyria at Backlash last weekend. It was a tough setback for The Man, as her former protege derailed her plans. However, the loss did little to shake the confidence of the former Women’s Champion. On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Lynch opened up about why she stepped away from WWE last year.

With a microphone in hand, Becky Lynch opened up to the WWE Universe, revealing that the primary reason for her hiatus was the crowd’s growing negativity. She recalled how fans had begun to boo her—even when she was winning matches and holding championships. The Man accused the audience of manipulating her into believing she needed their validation to succeed in WWE.

This emotional toll led Lynch to step away from WWE for a while to process her feelings and rediscover her purpose. However, she’s now back with renewed focus—and her sights firmly set on championship gold. No longer seeking the approval of the WWE Universe, Big Time Becks declared that she has embraced the image fans have painted of her.

And if that means taking down the WWE Universe’s beloved superstars, she’s more than ready to do it. Following her scathing rant, the former Women’s World Champion put the entire women’s locker room on notice. While it remains to be seen what lies ahead for the veteran, one thing is certain—The Man is back with a vengeance, and one defeat won’t be enough to keep her down.

Becky Lynch believes ‘The Four Horsewomen’ wanted to change the game forever

Lynch became one of the biggest stars in sports entertainment following her meteoric rise in 2018. Since then, The Man has been a cornerstone of the women’s division, carrying the company on her back through multiple eras. However, before her solo success, she was part of the beloved NXT faction known as The Four Horsewomen—a group that revolutionized women’s wrestling.

Speaking with Variety, the former Women’s Champion reflected on The Four Horsewomen, describing them as a group of four women determined to change WWE forever. She explained that their goal was to revolutionize the way things were done in the company and ensure that each of them became one of the biggest stars in sports entertainment—regardless of gender.

When you talk about ‘The Four Horsewomen,’ it’s not like we were a faction. We were ambitious women who wanted to change the game, change how things were done, and be seen as the biggest stars in wrestling, regardless of gender.

Becky Lynch said

Faction mates Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch have all played pivotal roles in transforming sports entertainment. Today, they stand among the biggest female wrestlers in the world. Notably, all except Bayley have main-evented WrestleMania—a monumental achievement that highlights just how far they’ve come and serves as proof that they accomplished the mission they set out with.

Becky Lynch reveals why her WWE return was delayed

Lynch was expected to return to WWE on several occasions during her hiatus last year. However, each potential comeback was delayed due to various unforeseen circumstances. Recently, The Man revealed that she was originally slated to make her return at the Royal Rumble 2025, but a last-minute issue forced her to postpone the comeback once again.

Speaking with Variety, Lynch revealed that she was originally scheduled to appear in this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble Match. However, her return was delayed after she developed a skin condition just before the event.

There was talk [of a return] around Rumble time, but then at the last minute, I got a skin condition. The next big event was WrestleMania, so it seemed to make sense, especially if I could take Bayley out of the mix and ruin her dreams. It felt doubly brilliant.

While Lynch didn’t disclose the exact nature of the condition, it’s believed to have been serious enough to delay her return. Rumors also suggested that The Man was originally planned to make her comeback during Raw’s highly anticipated Netflix debut. However, in a last-minute change, she was replaced by The Undertaker for the special event.
