Becky Lynch fell just short of winning the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania XL against Rhea Ripley. However, after Ripley relinquished her title due to an injury, Lynch seized the opportunity by winning the 15-woman battle royal on the April 22 episode of Raw to become the new champion. Now, two weeks later, an opponent has been revealed for The Man’s first title defense.
On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Becky Lynch made an appearance and addressed the WWE Universe. When Michael Cole asked her which superstars she saw as potential title contenders, she listed several names but notably omitted Liv Morgan‘s. Infuriated by this, Daddio came out and demanded the champion’s respect by boasting about her achievements.

Lynch granted the 29-year-old star the title opportunity, thus setting up the match at King and Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia. However, the duo was soon interrupted by the recently drafted Damage CTRL. They immediately set their eyes on The Man’s title and cornered both of them. Instead of fighting the notorious faction, Morgan escaped from there, leaving the champ to fend for herself.
Thankfully, the latest NXT call-up, Lyra Valkyria, saved her from the attack. Moments later, she defeated Dakota Kai to advance to the next round. Recently, the 37-year-old Superstar attended the 150th annual Kentucky Derby with her husband, Seth Rollins. Now that she’s back, it will be interesting to see how her first title defense plays out.
Lyra Valkyria discussed her bond with Becky Lynch
Lyra Valkyria, who helped The Man fight against Damage CTRL, shares a great relationship with her. The former NXT Women’s Champion discussed her bond with her fellow Irish wrestler in an interview recently.

During an interview with tvinsider, she was asked about her relationship with The Man during her NXT run and on the main roster. She stated that Lynch was the mentor every superstar needed in the locker room. Valkyria considers herself fortunate to have someone from her own country to look up to who has accomplished everything.
An Irish girl who has come so far is just crazy. To come from a place like Ireland, a lot of people don’t have that person they can look up to. So to see what is possible through her and how far one can go is incredible.Lyra Valkyria on Becky Lynch tvinsider
The 27-year-old further added that Lynch has always advised her to be herself, feeling that’s what catapulted her to the top of the women’s division. Both superstars share some history in the ring as well, as Valkyria became NXT Women’s Champion by defeating The Man.
