Belal Muhammad wants to claim the title of ‘the greatest welterweight fighter of all time’. He will face reigning UFC champion Leon Edwards this July at UFC 304. The contender recently made some interesting claims, especially involving UFC legend Georges St-Pierre, just days away from his title fight.

Belal Muhammad ranks #2 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings. He recently had a conversation with ‘MMA Fighting’. During their discussion, Muhammad spoke about his goal to become the best welterweight in MMA history, not just a UFC welterweight champion.

My goal isn’t to be the champion. My goal is to be the best welterweight to ever do it,... I’m right underneath Georges St-Pierre. You give me Shavkat,... you give me Ian Garry, and then I walk through all of them, there’s nothing else. I’m just going to be cemented as the best to ever do it.

Interestingly, Georges St-Pierre was recently named among the list of  ‘Top 100 athletes of the 21st Century’. He surpassed some expected names in MMA like Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, who did not even make it to the list. Meanwhile, Muhammad will look to continue his winning streak against Edwards, which stands at five right now.

This would not be their first encounter in the octagon. Edwards and Muhammad have fought before, back in 2021. That fight unfortunately ended in a no-contest decision because Edwards accidentally poked Muhammad’s eye in the second round. They will now headline their rematch at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.

Belal Muhammad trolls Leon Edwards ahead of UFC 304

Belal Muhammad had some interesting things to say about each other too. ‘Remember The Name’ claimed that if Leon Edwards did not have his UFC belt, nobody would know who he was. Edwards has always been a little reserved when it came to trash-talking. His pre-fight build-up with Colby Covington went viral on the internet.

This time, Muhammad has an opponent who knows the limits. The Brit had recently gone viral on the internet for his video of dunking a basketball. However, according to Muhammad, he could not vet for himself when it came to representing himself to the world.

He doesn’t talk for himself, he doesn’t promote himself. He doesn’t even know how to speak. Even when he goes on these podcasts, he’s like whispering. He just look so st*pid. He looks fearful.

Muhammad claimed that the Brit just looked like he did not belong here. He believes the UFC welterweight title belt does not belong on Edward’s shoulder, but rather his own. ‘Remember The Name’ is ready to show the division that he’s ready to become the champion. It will be interesting to see what happens in Manchester at the upcoming title fight at UFC 304.
