It’s been more than six months since Belal Muhammad became the UFC welterweight champion. In May, at UFC 315, Muhammad is expected to defend his title against top contender Jack Della Maddalena. Ahead of the fight, ‘Remember The Name’ has issued a warning about his striking prowess.
Muhammad is mostly known for his wrestling and the ability to put pressure on his opponents. However, the champion is quite confident about his striking and likes to compare it with boxing legend, Canelo Alvarez. In a recent interview, he shared his thoughts about the upcoming clash against Della Maddalena.
I’m better everywhere…I think they just underestimate my hands and my striking…he hasn’t fought a pressure-fighter yet. I think I’m gonna go in there and walk through him.

Muhammad explained that in his last fight, he fought the best striker in the division, Leon Edwards, and had success on the feet. According to the champ, he trains with some of the best strikers in the UFC and has the relentlessness to destroy JDM. Muhammad believes he also has the advantage of participating in more big fights.

At UFC 304, Muhammad was the major underdog, and nobody expected him to win. However, the Palestinian-American fighter shocked everyone by putting on a wrestling and striking masterclass. On top of that, his confidence is also at an all-time high, which can be seen through his tweets

Belal Muhammad was originally scheduled to fight top contender Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310. However, due to an injury, the champion had to pull out. For UFC 315, Rakhmonov was the best option, but he won’t be available then. As a result, UFC gave Jack Della Maddalena the title opportunity, who was originally planned to fight Leon Edwards.

After that, Muhammad made sure to mock his former rival with a sneaky tweet. However, in return, former British UFC fighter, Darren Till came to support Edwards. In the X back and forth, Muhammad made sure to give a befitting reply to Till.

Muhammad has put more volume on his trash-talking game in the last year. The welterweight fighter has had different online beef with the likes of Sean Strickland, Kamaru Usman, Dricus Du Plessis, Conor McGregor etc. Fans are expecting an equally entertaining fight from the welterweight champion at UFC 315.
