Belal Muhammad has pressure on him to emerge victorious on Saturday or forever leave the welterweight title picture. A victory over top-ranked contender Ian Garry will enable Muhammad to seek a title fight against new champion Islam Makhachev.
Ahead of the inaugural UFC Qatar event, the US political landscape is embroiled with Jeffrey Epstein Client List’s possible release. Somehow, some way, Belal Muhammad found a very unusual way to reference Epstein during his pre-fight media appearance in Qatar.
The former welterweight champion was talking about his mentality and physical aspects ahead of facing Garry in the co-main event. However, the mention of age as well as Epstein during one of his answers to the media members has come under scrutiny and trolling.
I’ve got a 17 year old now, who’s a monster. It feels like the Epstein files without the s*x. I’m getting their powers through sparring and training, so it feels good. I love training everyday with these guys…

The allegation against Jeffrey Epstein remains concerning to say the least. Allegations of crude activities with multiple under-age girls as trafficking accusations has erupted the political landscape of the United States. Multiple high-profile businessman as well as political leaders from various countries are alleged to have a connection with Epstein.
Meanwhile, fans in the MMA community were confused as to why the fighter would even say such things. Some fans felt that Muhammad’s attempt to come across as somewhat comedic felt flat with such utterances. Others continued with the usual boring personality allegations levelled against ‘Bully B.’
After losing his title against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315, the Palestinian-American fighter cannot afford to slip further. He had to wait a long time to get the title shot, and the time is slipping away from him after having turned 37 this year. Losing to Garry will likely end any future title opportunities, and this bizarre Epstein comment will all he’ll be remembered for until his next UFC appearance.
Belal Muhammad makes bold claims about trash-talking nature of Ian Garry
Ian Garry was not appreciated by the MMA fanbase back in 2023. The age gap between him and his wife as well employing his wife’s ex as his nutritionist caught much fury. Meanwhile, fighters like Sean Strickland and Colby Covington also insulted Garry and his wife ruthlessly.

Fast forward to 2025, that angle has taken a new life when Belal Muhammad made major accusations. The former welterweight champion boldly declared that Garry didn’t come up with any of his trash-talking material before competing inside the octagon.
I think he’s really good at reading a script, right? His writer, his wife, they’re all writing stuff down for him to say, so he’s good at reading it.

Ian Garry’s trash talk ability has yet to resonate with the fanbase. They don’t regard it to the level of Conor McGregor or Chael Sonnen. Nevertheless, he goes out of his way to hype up a fight, only for Muhammad to accuse him of using written materials.
The welterweight division is in an interesting position right now. Michael Morales and Carlos Prates are dangerous contenders for the champion. There’s also former champion Kamaru Usman, who Makhachev would like to defend against. However, Dana White has not chosen the next challenger yet.
As such, a new title contender is not definite at the moment, and the co-main event bout could possibly become the decider. With a convincing victory, Muhammad or Garry can stake their claims for a title shot after UFC Qatar. If it’s Garry, it will have the Irish vs. Dagestan rivalry re-ignited. If not, teammate vs. teammate battle between Muhammad and Makhachev remains another lucrative option.
