Bellator 270: Patricky Pitbull defeats Peter Queally

Bellator has a new lightweight champion as Patricky Pitbull defeats Peter Queally at Bellator 270 challenging for the vacant belt.

The Pitbull brothers continue their reign as champions in the Bellator as Patricio Freire’s brother Patricky Freire took on Irishman Peter Queally at Bellator 270 in a vacant lightweight title bout. The fight took place at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The Pitbull brother silenced the entire Arena as they had to witness their home fighter lose to the Brazilian. The former champion of the lightweight division Patricio Pitbull decided to vacate the title to pave a chance for his brother to become the champion of the division.

This is the second time Patricky and Peter are meeting in the octagon. The fighters previously fought in May at Bellator 258 where Queally defeated the Brazilian via doctor stoppage TKO. This bout was the biggest fight of Patricky’s career as he had the opportunity to avenge his loss to his bitter rival and also become the champion of the lightweight division on the same night. Freire sure did make the best out of his opportunity.

At Bellator 270, Patricky and Queally fought a great first round. The two fighters went into the second round hoping to finish the other and the Brazilian emerged on top. Despite the nasty eye poke from the Irishman, Pitbull fought through the pain and rocked Peter to become the new champion.

Conor McGregor has a message for the Bellator 270 winner

After his fellow Irishman lost the fight to the Brazilian, Conor was not content with their rivalry. Like many others in the audience at 3Arena, Conor too immediately wanted a trilogy after the two Bellator lightweights stand tied 1-1 in their series head-to-head. Conor McGregor put out a tweet that is now deleted asking for a trilogy. The UFC superstar put out a voice note for the very few followers who managed to listen to it before he deleted the tweet.
