The Bellator Bantamweight champion, Sergio Pettis is one of the most successful Bantamweight fighters in the world. He formerly fights for UFC and he is the younger brother of former UFC Lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis.
Sergio Pettis made his UFC debut on UFC 167 against Will Campuzano and he started his UFC run in the Flyweight division. Pettis holds victories against some of the big names in the UFC Flyweight division such as Brandon Moreno, Joseph Benavidez, Tyson Nam, and many others. But after Nam’s fight, Pettis decided not to renew his UFC contract and joined hands with Bellator.
He made his Bellator debut against Alfred Khashakyan on Bellator 238 and won two consecutive fights before facing Juan Archuleta on Bellator 258 for the Bellator Bantamweight title. Sergio Pettis defeated him via unanimous decision and won the Bellator Bantamweight title.
Now he is going to defend his title against one of the best Bantamweight fighters in the world at Bellator 272 and stamp his authority over the division.
Kyoji Horiguchi is one of the biggest names in the Japanese mixed martial arts fraternity. He is also a former UFC fighter who made his debut against Dustin Pague on UFC 166. Horiguchi faced the UFC Flyweight G.O.A.T. Demetrious Johnson to claim his title but faced a fifth-round submission loss that too on 4 minutes 59 seconds.
This was the only loss that he faced in his UFC career and after his fight against Ali Bagautinov he decided not to renew his UFC contract. Horiguchi then decided to join hands with Rizin and after defeating Darrion Caldwell on Rizin 14, he won the inaugural Rizin Bantamweight championship.
He later vacated his title due to injury and then he faced Darrion Caldwell for the Bellator Bantamweight title and defeated him once again. But this time too he vacated his title due to injury and now he is coming back to win the title against Pettis that he never lost.
