After retiring from MMA back in 2020 Khabib Nurmagomedov has now taken up coaching fellow fighters. One of the fighters also happens to be The Eagle’s cousin #3 Usman Nurmagomedov. Usman is only 24 years of age but is following in the footsteps of his brother with an undefeated record of 15-0. While The Eagle retired at 29-0, it looks like his cousin is surely destined to follow in his footsteps.
The 24-year-old Russian is a seasoned grappler who often relies on his ability to strike to dominate his opponents. The Russian made his Bellator debut at Bellator 255 in April 2021 against Mike Hamel. He picked up his first win by Unanimous Decision. The Russian went on to rack up a record of 4-0 in Bellator, dominantly finishing his fight. Unlike his fellow Dagestanians, The #3 Bellator Lightweight likes to engage in a striking battle.
Following The win at Bellator 283 in Washington after he submitted Team Alpha Male’s Chris Gonzalez (7-2) with a guillotine choke at 2:54 of Round 1. With this dominant win, The Russian now has 12 finish victories on his record. Three of his four Bellator wins have been inside the distance. The Russian is ranked #3 in Bellator Lightweight rankings and called for a title shot in the post-fight press conference.
The Russian said, “I don’t want to talk too much, I know the champion is injured. When you’re going to be ready let me know, I want to fight for the title.”

The Eagle later took to Instagram to share a video of the fight with a caption praising his little brother. The Eagle wrote, “That was powerful little bro. The Russian is showing signs of following in his brother’s footsteps. Usman might be next in line for a title shot at Bellator.
