Romero walks off after his TKO victory over Melvin Manhoef
Bellator 285 just took place in the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland and the atmosphere was electrifying. Ireland proved yet again why MMA is so popular in the country. In the co-main event, Yoel Romero fought Melvin Manhoef in a three-round light heavyweight bout.
The “Soldier of God” looked absolutely jacked and gave an amazing performance. In the first two rounds, Romero was ahead and was winning the fight on the scorecard. However, it was not enough as the Brazilian was looking for a finish. In the last round, Romero took Manhoef to the fence and wrestled him to the ground. In that position, Romero landed some nasty elbows which knocked out the 46-year-old.
After the fight, Manhoef announced that he is going to retire and Romero gained a lot of respect for the fight. Romero who left UFC in 2020 has found his momentum in Bellator 285 and is in no mood of slowing down.

Winning a fight like that at the age of 45 surely is an impressive feat and it didn’t go unnoticed by the fight fans. Yoel Romero got a lot of mixed reactions and appreciation on Twitter and here are some of the notable ones.
Romero’s performance was certainly better than his last few fights in UFC and one user made that clear in a tweet. She wrote:
“So much more ferocious than when in the UFC! This man doesn’t age.”
One user explained that things would have been different if Yoel had fought like this in UFC instead of being boring.
“If only he had some interesting fights in the UFC then maybe I’d care but he was so damned boring to watch.”
Another user claimed that Romero would not have survived against the top 15 fighters in UFC.
“He wouldn’t last in the UFC against the top 15 guys.”
As expected many also found Romero’s physique unnatural and accused him of using steroids.
“Im sorry but this dudes juicing. No way hes naturally that jacked,” wrote one user.
Another user sarcastically mentioned that Romero’s physique is 100 percent attainable naturally by drinking milk and enough sleep.
“That’s an all natural Fighter right there ? definitely drinks milk & gets 8 hours of sleep at night”
