Ben Shelton is relieved that Jannik Sinner‘s doping case is finally over. Since August last year, the conversation about Sinner’s doping scandal doesn’t seem to end and almost every day, he made headlines as someone from the tennis community kept expressing their opinions.
Sinner will breathe a sigh of relief after May 4, as on that the day his ban will end. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has reached a case resolution with Sinner and withdrew their Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) appeal. This divided the tennis community as many of the Italian’s former and current colleagues have criticized the WADA for their different verdicts on similar doping cases.
Many don’t hold Sinner responsible for clostebol contamination but they believe WADA lack consistency. So when Shelton, who is in Acapulco for the ATP 500 Mexico Open, was asked about his thoughts about the ongoing controversy by journalist Ben Rothenberg, the American youngster gave a very blunt response.
Settlement’s over. Case is over. I’m just glad that we can play now, move on. My thoughts are my thoughts, but I’m ready to start playing and stop talking about it. A lot of people want to talk, and I’m honestly just here to play.
Ben Shelton said (via Bounces)
The 22-year-old has met the World No.1 six times on the ATP Tour but could beat him once. Sinner, en route to clinching his third Major, beat Shelton in the Australian Open semifinal this year.
Tommy Paul can’t form opinions on Jannik Sinner’s doping case
Tommy Paul is playing at the Mexico Open and praised Jannik Sinner for his consistent performances despite dealing with the doping case. The American, who is 1-3 in his head-to-head record against the three-time Grand Slam champion, however, knows not what to think about the entire controversy.

But yeah, I don’t really know enough about the situation, to be completely honest. You hear so much from every side of things that I don’t really know what is true and what’s not true. So it’s hard for me to really comment on it, you know?
Tommy Paul told Ben Rothenberg
Sinner has played just the Australian Open so far. He beat Alexander Zverev in straight sets to claim the title, following which, he decided to withdraw from the Rotterdam Open.
The World No.1 could play the Italian Open as it starts on May 7. He then would shift his focus on to the French Open, which will commence on May 25.
