Ben Simmons wasn’t having it with a fan’s attempt at trash-talking him

The NBA season returns and, with it, its fair share of drama and controversy. One of which saw Ben Simmons get heckled by a fan after the game against the Orlando Magic on Friday. As Simmons walked past some Magic fans on his way to the locker room, a fan could be heard calling him “trash.”

Ben Simmons, like every human with feelings, responded by yelling back at the fan. The situation escalated when Simmons’ teammate Dennis Schroder headed back toward the fans to ask who was smack-talking Simmons.

It got heated when other Nets players also got involved, as they crowded the fan who was heckling Simmons. Staff then intervened, and the heckler was eventually tossed out.

And while heckling and banter is a common phenomenon, especially among rival fans, sometimes it can cross a line. Although players often try to ignore the jeers and boos, in this case, Simmons decided to respond and, thankfully, security was present to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Ben Simmons’ resurgence makes him the most intriguing buyout player

Although the jury is still out, Ben Simmons has shown flashes of his old self in the early stages of the season. The former number-one pick has filled the stat sheet and found his rhythm despite the Brooklyn Nets’ 0-2 start.

After appearing in just 15 games last season, there were questions about how he would perform this year. Thus, Bill Simmons on his show, ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast,’ asserted that if Ben Simmons continues to progress, he will have several options on the table, a surprise school of thought considering that he had been previously criticized as the worst player in the league.

I think he has a chance to become one of the most fascinating February buyout guys in a few years because he could be the center in New Orleans, he could be an absolutely crazy Draymond Green backup at Golden State… he’s kinda exactly what the Knicks need.

Bill Simmons said

His injury absence had left him on the brink as he lost his deal with Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports for not playing enough. In his return, he has averaged 6.5 PPG, 5.5 APG, and RPG, while playing an average time of 24 minutes and there’s a sense of belief that with time, he will get back to his All-Star form.
