If Victor Wembanyama had to think about Ben Stiller, the memory of the Hollywood star celebrating with the New York Knicks after upsetting his San Antonio Spurs will probably haunt him for a while.

The lanky Frenchman and his teammates went into the NBA Finals full of confidence, having just defeated the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder in a thrilling seven-game Western Conference Finals series.

However, that confidence was shattered when the Knicks essentially stamped their authority over the Spurs. Not only did they use their extended rest and game plan to perfection, but the eventual champions left their young opponents searching for answers.

After being linked to superstar free agent LeBron James, the Spurs pivoted towards a safer option in reinforcing the roster, signing former Detroit Pistons forward Tobias Harris. The hope is that his experience and the motivation after losing the biggest game of their lives should light a fire within the young team.

Since then, the NBA’s landscape has changed quite a bit, and the Western Conference champions may be feeling confident of their chances next season. But until then, there will be a constant reminder that they were almost swept in the NBA Finals.

KNICKS IN 5.

The Night at the Museum star was essentially trolling Victor Wembanyama after the 22-year-old was revealed to be NBA 2K27’s cover athlete. It seems Ben Stiller wanted to poke fun at the center for making the cover despite losing the Finals.

The 60-year-old is not one to gloat or take unnecessary shots at anyone. But in this instance, the Knicks superfan in him seemingly could not hold back, knowing he and his team have enjoyed winning against the Spurs superstar.

Kid trolls Victor Wembanyama at Fanatics Fest

There is no doubt that any New York Knicks fan will not leave a chance to troll Victor Wembanyama or any member of the San Antonio Spurs’ 2026 NBA Finals team every chance they get.

Ben Stiller did it online, but the Zoolander star was not the first to do so after the Finals. In fact, it was a little kid who decided to troll the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in the most epic fashion.

Wemby!!! Sign my jersey, please!

The Kid yelled

This was the young fan holding up a jersey at the Fanatics Fest held in New York. He waited alongside others and yelled as Wembanyama was about to walk past. The kid’s request did catch the attention of the two-time All-Star. But as he came face-to-face, he realized what was going on.

That’s not my… That’s Jalen Brunson… Can’t sign this.

Victor Wembanyama said

The Spurs star understood the joke and took it sportingly, knowing that all Knicks fans are going to troll him in some manner. Even those standing nearby were left chuckling after realizing the kid’s gutsy troll.

Victor Wembanyama may be battling the odds as a 2K cover athlete

It is an honor for any professional athlete to become the cover star for the league’s official video game. But in many instances, it has not been a good omen for them.

In the NFL, those who grace the cover of Madden are known to suffer from its ‘curse.’ Many athletes have experienced down seasons the following year, either due to poor performance or injuries.

In the NBA, none of that has happened in the NBA, as all the athletes selected in the past 14 editions have had tremendous success individually. The lone exception was when the game featured the late Kobe Bryant in its 2K24 edition after his death.

Otherwise, excepting Anthony Davis, who was featured on the 2K20 cover and went on to win the 2020 bubble title, the rest haven’t won a championship the following season. The latest example is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who lost to Victor Wembanyama in the West Finals.

Therefore, the odds are stacked against the latter. If he does win, it will break the trend that has been in place since the 2K13 edition of the game. Otherwise, he will be another example that could continue to fuel this narrative.
