Coming off a season-ending injury, Joe Burrow seems to be open to the idea of representing his country at the Olympics someday. Given that the 2028 Olympics, scheduled in Los Angeles, will be introducing, for the very first time an American sport– flag football. And the elite quarterback aspires to represent the USA in that.

During a recent interview with Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, the Cincinnati Bengals’ star quarterback revealed his aspiration beyond the NFL, to compete in the Olympics in 2028. He also shared that he would try to get his former teammate Justin Jefferson and current teammate Ja’Marr Chase (two of the top wide receivers in the league) on board.

I really want to play for the Olympic flag football team--Like Me, Ja’marr [Chase], Justin [Jefferson], Me and my friends out there playing football… I think it’d be really cool.

Additionally, Burrow admitted it would be quite ‘embarrassing’ if the USA team didn’t win in the flag football– even more than when they were outperformed in American Football World Championships against Japan last month.

NFL rivals Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow both eyeing Olympic flag football glory

Burrow isn’t the only quarterback who has expressed interest in competing in the Olympics. The reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes said last year that he aspires to represent the USA at the Olympics.

I definitely want to, but I’ve seen some of those guys play the flag football, and they’re a little faster than I am. I’ll be 31, 32 years old, so if I can still move around then, I’m going to try to get out there and throw the football around maybe in LA.

It would be quite exciting to know who between Mahomes and Burrow will get to represent the USA in the Olympics in 2028, given their infamous rivalry. Both the quarterbacks are often compared to each other for facing each other in the AFC championship game maximum times.

Though oftentimes Mahomes has held a dominating hand in the debate with his three Super Bowl rings in the last five years. On account of this, Burrow had passed a comment signifying that the Bengals are built to defeat the Chiefs.
