UFC megastar Conor McGregor is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC and by far the biggest name in the combat sports history of this century at least. McGregor, the former double champion and the first two to hold two UFC belts simultaneously, last fought at UFC 264 when he fought UFC Lightweight Dustin Poirier in a trilogy but lost the fight due to post-first round doctor stoppage.

At the end of the first round, McGregor threw a powerful teep kick that landed wrong and hence the shin got hit straight into Poirier’s elbow, giving McGregor a shinbone fracture. Now, as per coach John Kavanagh, McGregor’s healing is close to complete and he may start his MMA training soon, which arouses the possibility of his return by the end of this year. McGregor is also the only fighter in UFC history to make a cross-promotional fight possible when he fought boxing legend, Floyd Mayweather, in a boxing match.

McGregor has incredible knockout victories over the likes of Dustin Poirier, Donald Cerrone, Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez, Chad Mendes and many more. McGregor took to his Instagram posting pictures of his ground and pound practice on a heavy bag and wrote a rather deeply sentimental caption for his training session.

“I’ve the best ground and pound in the game,” writes McGregor “My highest % of finishes does not actually come from my standing horizontal back hand, like most assume. My highest % of finishing wins actually come from the accuracy of my vertical punching (you are all novices vertical striking. Arm hitters. Ask ref to stop it hitters. Fall over on yourself hitters). I don’t miss g’n’p. I do not hit arms. I do not fall in…

I hit soft face, head and skull. It’s how you’ve seen people vs me absolutely cut up. Looking like they’ve just got a bang of a few golf balls off the tee of a driving range. Skin fully opened. Yet me, skin like butter. Many times I’ve not even messed up my hair. That’s why a lot of these rat bags like to hate. I’m smooth like butter with it. The richest, the baddest, the most unscathed. Anyways rat bags, It’s almost yacht season, or as I like to call it, caramel butter skin season,” McGregor concluded.

What do you make of McGregor’s assessment of his knockout finishes, do you think he has said it right? Who do you think McGregor should fight upon his return? Fellow UFC Megastar Nate Diaz has already given the word that he would like to fight Dustin Poirier in the last fight of his current UFC contract, which as of now limits McGregor’s options for his return. However, UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira has shown his interest to fight the Irishman.
