“Better box out” – Russell Westbrook explains hilarious trash-talk to Ivica Zubac from Clippers vs Nuggets matchup
Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook taught his former teammate Ivica Zubac a lesson for failing to grab the rebound.
Russell Westbrook explained trash talk to Ivica Zubac
Russell Westbrook playing against his former teams is always entertaining for his fans. Hence, unsurprisingly, Denver playing the LA Clippers was also not so different. Brodie started talking trash to his former teammate Ivica Zubac immediately in the first quarter of the game.
As DeAndre Jordan shot a free throw, Russell Westbrook warned Ivica Zubac about getting the rebound. “You better box out,” Westbrook said. That is not all, as the guard even hilariously explained the exchange in the press conference leaving the room in splits. “I told Zu that if he miss, I’m gonna to get this one and there’s nothing you can do about it. And he missed, and I got it, and there was nothing he could do about it,” Russell Westbrook said.
Westbrook had all the right to taunt Zubac as he did exactly what he said. Despite Zubac being a 7-footer, Brodie quite easily got the offensive rebound. The 36-year-old even added two points to the score despite Jordan missing the free throw. Westbrook even celebrated on Zubac to put the icing on the cake.

Westbrook’s confidence was certainly reflected in his performance as his toughness helped the team win the game. The Nuggets putting Westbrook in the starting lineup has been one of their best decisions, as the star has been dominating and contributing to wins in the absence of Nikola Jokic.
Russell Westbrook once called out Ivica Zubac while being an LA Clipper
During his 16 years in the league, Westbrook has always received praise for being a great teammate. Despite talking trash to Zubac now, Brodie played his senior role very well during his time with the Clippers. It seems not a lot has changed between the two friends, as this was not the first time Westbrook pushed Zubac to play better.
When Zubac appeared as a guest on Paul George‘s ‘Podcast P‘, he praised Brodie for his energy and also revealed how the guard talks trash even during practice. The Clippers center then shared an incident where Westbrook gave him an important lesson. “He (Westbrook) passed me the ball, I coulda shot my hook, I passed it out. He got mad at me…he was like I want you to take that shot every single time,” Russell Westbrook said.

Westbrook explained to Zubac the importance of taking his shots as he might not get many chances. Westbrook still seems to be teaching Zubac the same lesson, however, now from being on the opposite side of the court.
