Bianca Andreescu parts ways with mentor Sven Groeneveld in the wake of the upcoming season, ending their year-long partnership

Bianca Andreescu is the highest-ranked Canadian player. She has won three singles titles throughout her career including the 2019 US Open women’s singles title. For the past few years has been the “Superstar of Canadian Tennis”.
But this year has been tough on her. She had to stay out of many important tournaments this year such as the Australian Open, Indian Wells Open, and Miami Open at the start of this season due to an injury. After some very disappointing performances in the last few tournaments, Andreescu and her long-time coach Sven Groeneveld decided to part ways.
Sven Groeneveld is a former Dutch player who has coached many brilliant players throughout his coaching career. The list includes some illustrious names such as Monica Seles, Ana Ivanovic, Caroline Wozniacki, Tommy Haas, and Maria Sharapova amongst others.
In a tweet, Mr. Groeneveld informed his split with the Canadian. He also wished the current World No.46 good luck. He has wished for himself new challenges in the upcoming years.
“After more than a year of coaching Bianca, I have decided not to extend our collaboration. I am keen on new challenges in the men’s or women’s game. Wishing Bianca and her team great success going forward,” Sven Groeneveld tweeted.
It will be interesting to learn with whom he collaborates next. Many wonderful players would be happy to train under his guidance. The most prominent name that is coming to most tennis fans’ minds is Emma Raducanu. She has recently split with her coach Dmitry Tursunov.
Bianca Andreescu this season so far
Bianca Andreescu made a comeback into the WTA tour through a wildcard entry into the Stuttgart Open. She lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the second round of the tournament in three sets. She started her season on clay with fine performances against Alison Riske-Amritraj and Danielle Collins defeating them both in the first and second rounds of the tournament respectively. She lost to Jessica Pegula in the third round.
She then participated in the Italian Open but was defeated by Iga Swiatek in the quarter-final round match. She played at Roland Garros but was defeated by Belinda Bencic in straight sets in the second round of the tournament. She performed extremely well at Bad Hamburg Open defeating big names like Martina Trevisan, Katie Swan, Daria Kasatkina, and Simona Halep in previous rounds to reach the final. But she lost to Caroline Garcia in a tight match.
In Wimbledon, the Canadian was defeated by Elena Rybakina. In the US Open, she lost to Caroline Garcia in straight sets. In the Guadalajara Open, she looked good by defeating Jil Teichmann and Petra Kvitova. But she lost to Jessica Pegula in straight sets.
It will be interesting to learn how well she performs in the next season after parting her ways with Sven Groeneveld. Also, who she may approach next to become her coach.
