Bill Belichick backs Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs to secure three-peat but there’s a catch
Bill Belichick claimed that Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid can pull off the three-peat but they need to limit the turnovers which almost ruined their 2023 season.

If anyone is qualified to speak about winning a three-peat, then it’s Bill Belichick because he was once in the same shoes as Patrick Mahomes is in right now. The former New England Patriots head coach recently has backed the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl three years in a row.
Belichick is one of the few coaches who came close to securing it when the Patriots won back-to-back Lombardi Trophies in 2003 and 2004. However, the Denver Broncos won in 2005, ending their hopes of a historic run.
While appearing on the latest episode of ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show, Belichick spoke about the Chiefs’ chances in 2024.
I just think, this third year, for it all to fall into place three years in a row is tough. I think if anybody can do it, it's probably Kansas City. But it won't be easy.Bill Belichick told the host of the show, Pat McAfee

Andy Reid will have them ready to go and I think they'll score more than they did last year"

Bill Belichick pointed out the area that could be the Chiefs’ Achilles heel in their search for a three-peat
The Chiefs were saved last season because of their backfield during defense. Reid’s team had some of the highest-rated (PFF) corners and safeties in the NFL. However, they lost a couple of them in the offseason.
Belichick highlighted both the positives and the areas that head coach Andy Reid and Mahomes need to work on.
I thought offensively, it looks like it's just going to be an effort to get the young guys' timing with Pat [Patrick Mahomes] so they're ready to go and ready to go early against Baltimore [Ravens], the big opener. I think the bigger issues are going to be on defense.Bill Belichick added
In the veteran coach’s view, the Chiefs need to limit the turnovers and the dropped catches, unlike the 2023 season. The Chiefs were fishing for scraps at one point during the season because the amount of dropped catches resulted in lost points. It’s the combination of Reid’s brilliant playcalling and Mahomes’ clutch plays that the Chiefs pulled off amazing results.
Overall as a team, run defense, turnovers—I think that's an area that they're going to want to improve in, and I just think it's going to be tough this year.Bill Belichick said
After lifting his third Lombardi in February, Patrick Mahomes revealed Tom Brady’s influence on him and the winning mentality required to keep the momentum rolling on even to the next season.
I'm going to celebrate with my guys for how we've done this, but then we're going to work our way to get back to this game next year.Mahomes said back then, per Bleacher Report
The Patriots and the Chiefs aren’t the only ones who found themselves in the same situation in the past. The great Pittsburgh Steelers team in the ‘70s, then the San Francisco 49ers led by Joe Montana in the ‘80s, and then the Dallas Cowboys from the early ‘90s were close to edge their names in NFL history.
