Since the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, there have been speculations that Patrick Mahomes might dethrone Tom Brady from the title of Greatest of All Time. However, former head coach Bill Belichick believes that what Brady has accomplished is unparalleled and may never be replicated. He has even proposed a bold suggestion for the league for Brady’s legacy of the Super Bowl.
After winning six Super Bowl rings in two decades with the New England Patriots, Brady was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the very next season he astounded everyone by winning his seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy– earning the title of the winningest quarterback in the history of the league.
Talking about Super Bowl legacy on the “Let’s Go!” podcast, UNC’s new head coach suggested a bold idea to the NFL about renaming the Vince Lombardi Trophy after the seven-time Super Bowl champion. “Maybe they should name it the Brady Trophy. He won seven of them,” said Belichick.
"They don't name it the Starr Trophy. They name it the Lombardi Trophy."

Belichick was talking about how coaches cannot win without good players, but co-host Jim Gray then highlighted that the Super Bowl trophy is not named after the MVP of the first two Super Bowls, Bart Starr, but after the head coach of Super Bowl-winning Green Bay Packers: Vince Lombardi, who coached the team from 1959 to 1967 and then again from 1968 to 1996. After he died in 1970, NFL named the “World Professional Football Championship Trophy,” in his honor.
Bill Belichick reflects on coaching wisdom from Bill Parcells
While talking about the two most important elements of winning games: coaches and players with Gray, the former NFL legendary head coach reflected on the precious lesson he learned from Bill Parcells, under whom he began his coaching career in 1975, working as his assistant in Baltimore Colts.
Belichick also followed Parcells to the New York Giants, where he joined as the defensive coordinator in 1985. Together with Parcells, he won two Super Bowl trophies before earning his first head coach position at the Cleveland Browns in 1991.
