UFC middleweight Bo Nickal isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. The undefeated phenom is making waves in the middleweight division of the UFC. Over the years, the college wrestling standout has identified Khamzat Chimaev as a future opponent. Recently, Nickal spoke about the budding rivalry between them.
Fellow undefeated fighter Khamzat Chimaev took to social media to critique Nickal’s wrestling. Nickal did not take this criticism kindly. He heard the comments loud and clear, and he came out swinging. Moreover, Nickal boldly predicted what the betting odds would look like if he fought Chimaev.
I think that people just need to get to know me. The more they get to know me, the more they’re gonna realize like, 'Hey I'm that guy' and there's nothing anybody else can do about that. It wouldn't be surprising to me if when we fight, I'm like a -1000 favorite, the same as I have been in all these other fights.Bo Nickal via The MMA Hour
Chimaev had put out a post on X berating Nickal for his abysmal wrestling performance. He did not see Nickal’s wrestling as world-class and was confident he could crack that code. Chimaev believed he would fully dominate the fight, given Nickal’s subpar performance against Cody Brundage.
Bo Nickal, however, was oozing confidence. The college wrestling standout seemed to believe he’d genuinely ruin Chimaev’s perfect record. Whether that holds true remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure – this potential matchup between the two elite wrestlers will have a lot of eyeballs on it.

Bo Nickal and Khamzat Chimaev have the potential to have a great middleweight rivalry if things go to plan. So far, the duo have critiqued each other on numerous occasions. Over time, if they both remain undefeated, their matchup could have a super fight implication.
Nickal recently spoke to Ariel Helwani after UFC 300. He asked Nickal about a potential fight against Khamzat Chimaev. Nickal answered boldly, stating he had the tools and the skills to defeat Chimaev. He believed Chimaev’s wrestling did not compare to him.
That’s good, I love it. The fact that he recognizes it and sees what’s coming too, I think that it’s good for everybody. It’s good for me, it’s good for him, it’s good for the sport. So, we’re going to make that fight happen. I would just, in response to that, who are you fighting at 5-0 bro? Some random dude in Europe. Like, I’m fighting in the UFC, on UFC 300. So there’s levels to this.Bo Nickal via The MMA Hour
The duo are fated to cross paths sooner or later. As of yet, Nickal avoided calling out Chimaev in his post-fight interview. The wrestling standout believed he had a few more fights before challenging the division’s top brass. Furthermore, Chimaev is slated to fight Robert Whittaker on the debut UFC card for Saudi Arabia. Fight fans would be waiting in anticipation for when these two middleweights collide.
