It looks like Bo Nickal is taking his status as the biggest betting favorite in UFC history in stride. The young phenom will enter the octagon at UFC 300 as a mind-boggling -2100 favorite over his opponent, Cody Brundage. Nickal has remained confident in his ability throughout the buildup of UFC 300.
Nickal was asked about his odds at the media presser for UFC 300. His response was that of confidence yet grounded. The college wrestling standout believed that he would win the fight. However, Bo Nickal refused to make a prediction about how it would end or in what round.
I think the math checks out. Any number on me is basically free money at this point. It’s really tough to predict a fight but I know I’m gonna win, that’s for sure.Bo Nickal via UFC 300 Media day presser
Well, based on those odds, it seems the oddsmakers aren’t leaving much room for uncertainty. He is a heavy-betting favorite due to his world-class wrestling pedigree. It’s almost as if the oddsmakers believe Nickal will dismantle Brundage in any way possible. The mixed career of Brundage in the UFC could be the reason why Nickal remains the overwhelming favorite.
Nickal is confident in his abilities. He is one of the best wrestlers in the UFC and remains certain of getting his hand raised. Fight fans can’t help but appreciate his hustle. Nickal knows he’s got the goods and the skills. Fans can’t wait to see what kind of havoc he unleashes on Cody Brundage come fight night. Or will Brundage be too much of a challenge for the rising star? Only time will tell.
Bo Nickal embraces the boos from the UFC 300 crowd
Bo Nickal is learning a valuable lesson about the harsh realities of being a rising UFC star. The MMA fans can be a fickle bunch. The crowd unceremoniously booed the up-and-coming phenom during the UFC 300 pre-fight press conference. But he’s taking it all in stride.
Bo Nickal was booed on stage when a reporter asked a question about his upcoming fight. The boos erupted from the excited crowd. Nickal seemed unfazed by the constant noise of booing. He answered the question eloquently. Nickal then put the mic down and spread his arms, like, “What are you gonna do?”
This booing and hate he is getting is not due to his persona. The UFC recently shuffled the card around, and Nickal was moved up to the main card. This did not sit well with the fans, who wanted more established fighters on the main card. These include Jiri Prochazka vs. Aleksander Rakic or Aljamain Sterling vs. Calvin Kattar. Both these fights are in the prelims of UFC 300, while the rising star received favorable treatment. Just one last thing to remember. When fight fans are booing Nickal at UFC 300, he’s probably enjoying every minute of it.
