‘Maybe we’ll breathe some life into Wilder’ – Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum unhappy with the way Anthony Joshua fight is proceeding

Despite many believing Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury will be taking place soon, a few are still pessimistic because of the speed at which the negotiations have been going. The parties of both the fighters have been struggling to come to a conclusion for a proper location and venue.

Fury’s promoter Bob Arum slammed Anthony Joshua’s promoter and Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn, after failing to come to a proper agreement over the remaining deals in the fight. Arum was sceptical of Hearn’s abilities since he has been dead slow in taking things forward.

And hence, Arum threatened that he might go ahead with a rematch against Deontay Wilder, if Hearn doesn’t speed things up. Wilder was Fury’s last opponent. The pair met at MGM Grand Arena in February 2020.

‘Joshua will fight Oleksandr Usyk’ – Bob Arum

Speaking in an interview with boxingscene.com, Arum said, “Maybe we’ll breathe some life into Wilder, and Fury will fight Wilder and Joshua will fight (WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr) Usyk.” [via Boxingscene.com]

Warren had earlier told in an interview with TalkSPORT, “Look, every day I’m being told — it’s like, ‘It’s in the post.’ It’s not arrived and that’s where we are. I’ll believe it when I see it. We’re being told it’ll be here. I know Tyson’s had enough of hanging around. He wants to fight in June or July and that’s what will happen if this thing doesn’t get resolved very quickly.” [via Boxingscene.com]

Ever since losing to Fury in 2020, Wilder has been very vocal about a rematch against the Gypsy King. He has been claiming since that day that he didn’t lose fairly, blaming his coach, accusing Fury of cheating, blaming on his ring walk costume and whatnot. But it now, looks like he might after all get the rematch, provided Hearn messes it up.

Wilder was scene training heavily on the pads. He was landing firecrackers at extreme speed and looked to be in the best shape of his life. It looks like he wouldn’t need much time to prepare himself for a fight.
