Islam Makhachev took an unconventional path to become the undisputed champion. He did not fight many top-ranked fighters to earn the title shot. The Russian fighter got the title shot after a victory over Bobby Green. ‘King Green’ was cordial before and after the fight but has thrown shade since.
The American even accused Makhachev of doping. Fans consider Green to be one of the OGs of the sport. It is one of the reasons why the UFC put him on the UFC 300 card against Jim Miller. Interestingly, Green threw shade at Islam Makhachev in a recent interview when he answered a question about the BMF title at UFC 300.
Guys like Islam [Makhachev] are taking their time with stuff, you know...if you want to be that star, you want to be that guy, you got to go out there and take those chances and those risks...Sometimes you may come up short, but f*** it, I did what you motherf****** were too p**** to do.Bobby Green at the UFC 300 Media Day
Bobby Green said all this while praising fighters like Justin Gaethje, Max Holloway, and Alexander Volkanovski. Green revealed that he is a fan of both Holloway and Gaethje for their penchant to make exciting fights. Holloway received special praise as Green felt he and the Hawaiian were cut from the same cloth.
Bobby Green has legally changed his name to ‘King,’ which was his nickname, as revealed by Jon Anik. As such, Bruce Buffer might announce his name to just ‘King.’ Green had already revealed that he wanted to change his name to do something different like Kanye and Prince.
Bobby Green predicts Jamahal Hill to become champion at UFC 300
Bobby Green will lock horns with veteran Jim Miller in the early prelims of UFC 300. Green has already vowed to hurt Miller like he did to Grant Dawson and Nasrat Haqparast. Moreover, Green expects Jamahal Hill to do the same in the main event of UFC 300.
Green is very close with Hill and, therefore predicted Hill to defeat Pereira. Personal biases aside, Green is very certain that Hill will become the undisputed light heavyweight champion again.
I think he's [Jamahal Hill] going to put Alex [Perreira] out there. There's something weird about Jamahal that people don't understand, and I watched him. I'm like, the way he's throwing his strikes, the way he comes and covers distance. If you're not ready, you will go to sleep.Bobby Green at the UFC 300 Media Day
Hill cited the impressive performance of Hill against Johnny Walker and Glover Teixeira as examples of what Hill is capable of. Interestingly, Pereira will be the fourth Brazilian for Hill in as many fights. In 2022, Hill finished both Thiago Santos and Walker, while in 2023, he dominated Teixeira in the main event of UFC 283. It remains to be seen if Green’s prediction will come true or not.
