“Head held high”- Canelo Alvarez looks back at Dmitry Bivol loss, vows to make triumphant return

Canelo Alvarez comes up short in his return to Light Heavyweight

Canelo Alvarez faced the second loss of his professional career yesterday night against Dimitry Bivol. Coming to the fight, many fight fans called it a high risk low reward fight for Alvarez as Canelo moved up in weight to challenge Bivol for his WBA title.

Sometimes even the greatest aren’t able to achieve a few of the things. That’s exactly what happened with Canelo this Saturday night. The Russian showed his sound technique and defense skills to defeat powerful Alvarez.

With this loss, Canelo’s record is now 57-2-2. Prior to this fight, Canelo’s only loss came against none other than Floyd Mayweather. However, this loss hasn’t mentally affected the Middleweight king.

Soon after the fight, Canelo Alvarez took his official Twitter handle to notify his fans how he was feeling after the loss. Interestingly Canelo informed his fans that even though he has lost the fight he can still hold his head high because he put up a great performance inside the octagon.

Canelo wrote:

Boxing is like that, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. But always with your head held high. I stay with the great fight that we offered to the people. We will fight again and we will win again.”

It’s not the first time Canelo had lost in a boxing fight hence he knows how to come back stronger from such losses.

Alvarez will certainly activate the rematch clause against Dimitry Bivol and will look to beat him in their second encounter. But, that has nothing to with his greatness and legacy since he proved why he is amongst the greatest of all time boxers by taking such a high risk low reward fight that too by moving up a weight class.
