Floyd “Money” Mayweather is regarded as the greatest boxer to ever enter a ring in the world. The American boxer, who throughout his career was unbeaten, has faced 50 opponents during his professional career and has won every fight.
Mayweather was known for his impressive defense, which nobody was successful in penetrating. Floyd Mayweather never got knocked down, but one time he definitely came close during his fight with Shane Mosley.
While talking about that round during one of his interviews, Mayweather revealed that Mosley did hit him with a nasty combination. But according to the fighter, later in the round, he said to Mosley that if he wants to beat Mayweather, he will have to kill him.
Mayweather said: “Shane hit me with a hell of a shot. Actually two shots but in that particular round what I said to Shane was this. I said ‘You gotta kill me.’ I said ‘That was a good one but you gotta kill me’ and I mean it.” As Mayweather said, from that moment on, he changed his fighting style and became more defensive, and ultimately out-pointed his opponent.

Shane Mosley was extremely close to getting that knockout, and it was definitely not a fluke. In an interview with ESPN, Mosley mentioned the second round and how well he connected on both shots.
He said: “In the second, he’s starting to feel confident that he can take my shots and he’s coming to me a little bit more…..It wasn’t a casual right hand, but it wasn’t my hardest. It’s like I just threw it to land, and it wobbled him….next right hand, I buckled him a second time. I was like, “Oh, he’s ready to go out.”
However, Mayweather was smart and clinched immediately to evade. Mosley was confident that he would get a knockout in later rounds, but it remained a dream. ‘Money’ got cautious, and from then on, the fight slipped out of Mosley’s hands.
