Frank Bruno, the former professional boxer and heavyweight champion sat down with DAZN Boxing and had some engrossing things to say about the current WBC champion, Tyson Fury. The retired British boxer fought in the era of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield and remarks that if Tyson Fury fought in their generation, “they’d eat him for dinner”.
He said that Tyson, “knows deep down in his heart if he was around in my day, they’d eat him for dinner. I’m not going to sit here and disrespect him, but we’re talking about a different era. He’s living on a different cloud to what I was on.”
Fury had previously made a statement after his 11th round knockout win over Deontay Wilder that, “There hasn’t been a heavyweight from any era in the last thousand years that could’ve tackled me, who’ll beat me. I’m the greatest fighter that’s ever lived, and how about that for a bit of modesty!“
However, Bruno did say that he respects Tyson Fury for what he has achieved when he said, “He’s number one, he deserves to be number one. I’ve got a lot of respect for him.”
Frank Bruno calls Tyson Fury as ‘dangerous’ and believes he can win against Dillian Whyte
When asked about an anticipated fight between Fury and Dillian Whyte, Frank said, “It’s a good fight, Dillian Whyte is very powerful. Tyson Fury is dangerous and can box.” However, he says that Fury’s ability to adapt to a situation is what will help claim the victory and that’s how he beat Deontay Wilder.
“Fury is going to show him some movements and upset him. He can adapt. If you’re southpaw he can southpaw, if you dig deep, he can dig deep. He fought the most dangerous man on the planet, Deontay Wilder, who threw his toys out of the pram.”
‘The Gypsy King’ now holds an unbeaten record of 31-0-1 after his trilogy fight against ‘The Bronze Bomber’ and looks set for a bout against Dillian Whyte in early 2022 and then a unification fight against Oleksandr Usyk.
He believes that his record will stay intact and unbeaten though there is a looming danger of fighting some heavy-hitters.
