“Maybe he fights the winner of Fury vs Usyk” – Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has a suggestion for Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua should fight the winner of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, says Fury’s UK promoter Frank Warren. Fury defeated Deontay Wilder in a trilogy fight to seal the deal in their rivalry. With that win, Fury only has Usyk’s titles left to claim – WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.

Usyk, only recently beat Anthony Joshua to claim the four titles and become the heavyweight champion. He is set to face either Tyson Fury or Joshua. But, now that Joshua has triggered his rematch clause (against Usyk), a fight against the Brit seems very much likely.

Keeping the same in mind, Fury’s UK promoter Frank Warren stated that Joshua must not be triggering a rematch clause, and should instead wait for the winner of Fury vs Usyk.

“He needs a winning mentality before he goes into an Usyk rematch” – Frank Warren on Anthony Joshua

Frank Warren was quoted as saying, “He shouldn’t be going through with it, It’s his choice. If he knocks it on the head, it opens the door for us to do the unification. Let AJ get a warm-up fight. He needs a winning mentality before he goes into an Usyk rematch. Maybe he fights the winner [of Fury vs Usyk] which is still a big fight.” [via Sky Sports]

Joshua vs Fury would have already been history by now, had an arbitrator not ruled a trilogy bout between Fury and Wilder just when AJ vs Fury was confirmed. Hardly a couple of days after the venue for the AJ-Fury bout was announced, news of the arbitrator ruling came.

Joshua went on to fight Usyk instead, and ended up losing via. unanimous decision. Fury, on the other hand, put on a masterclass against the ‘Bronze Bomber’, closing the chapter on the trilogy, once and for all. What are your thoughts on Frank Warren’s recent suggestion?
