George Foreman reveals his Top-5 heavyweight boxers of all time, excludes Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Robinson

Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Lennox Lewis
The two-time heavyweight champion of the world George Foreman ranked his top 5 heavyweight boxers of all time on twitter. His stacked list includes the likes of Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano.
Foreman revealed that Joe ‘Brown Bomber’ Louis was top dog in his list of greats. Louis is widely regarded as one the best and most influential boxers of all time. He held the heavyweight belt from 1937 to 1949, the longest span of any heavyweight champion, with an amazing 25 back-to-back title defences.

The second baddest man to walk the face of the earth is Rocky Marciano. Marciano has a victory over Louis in what ended up a very one-sided affair. He held the belt from 1952 to 1956 and is the only heavyweight champion to retire undefeated.

Next on the list is John L. Sullivan, the first ever boxer to be recognised as the heavyweight champion, Sullivan is the bridge between bare-knuckle fighting and gloved boxing. He reigned from 1882 to 1892. Sullivan is said to have fought for 75 rounds against Jake Kilrain, a fight which lasted 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Foreman’s own rival Muhammad Ali is fourth. ‘The Greatest’ is regarded as the best ever to this day and was undoubtedly the greatest fighter of his generation. Ali was the first heavyweight to win the belt three times. His impact off the ring cannot be underestimated.

Lennox Lewis, three-time world heavyweight champion and two-time lineal champion rounds off Foreman’s list. Lewis famously defeated Mike Tyson for the Heavyweight Belt.

While Foreman’s list is absolutely stacked with legends it is surprising that heavyweights Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Robinson didn’t make the rankings. However, with the top 5 ever only having 5 spots we can’t blame Foreman too much for the choices he made.
