Tyson managed to amass a record of 50 wins and 6 losses in his professional career. He has fought formidable opponents like Larry Holmes and Frank Bruno and emerged victorious. ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson was also known for his extravagant and wild lifestyle outside the ring. His larger-than-life journey and controversies have made him a huge star in combat sports.
‘Iron’ Mike Tyson has had quite the rocky life, from being a superstar to a felon, the man has seen it all. In 1995, a movie by the name of ‘Tyson’ hit the cinemas. The movie showed the former heavyweight champion’s life story. Although the movie was not a commercial success, it made its rounds in the community. The popular actor Michael Jai White played Tyson. Mike Tyson had his own thoughts about the movie.
In an interview with ‘djvlad‘ the fighter was asked about his prison life and the fear of getting out. He was also asked about his thoughts regarding the 1995 movie. To which he said, “I don’t know, he [Michael Jai White] did a good job. The film was garbage. He [Michael Jai White] did some things that I thought I could assimilate that being me. But yeah, I think the movie was really bad.”
It was clear that Mike Tyson was not a fan of the movie. Within the boxing community, the movie is known to receive average at best ratings and reviews. Michael Jai White has also spoken on how ‘Iron’ is the best heavyweight fighter.
Mike Tyson reveals he does not like watching himself
‘Iron’ Mike Tyson is one of the best boxers to ever live. His career highlights and larger-than-life persona tend to overshadow his controversies. In his prime, Tyson was a feared contender in the ring. His knock-out power and intimidating aura worked in favor of his victories.
Despite having lived the life of a superstar, 56-year-old Mike Tyson does not like watching himself. In the ‘Joe Rogan Experience,’ the fighter talks about the current heavyweight division, Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder, and his past. “I’m almost a little bit like, I don’t wanna be involved and I wish that never happened,” said Tyson about his trash-talking in his prime.
“People love that guy. [Prime Mike Tyson] I don’t even like that guy that much. So, I’m conflicting with people that like that guy and me living my life that I’m living now,” said Mike Tyson referring to his past. While talking about current heavyweight champions, he said, “These guys are so much nicer than I was. These are cool guys, man,” said the former heavyweight champion.
Mike Tyson’s life was a roller-coaster for the former heavyweight champion. The fighter went from being one of the most loved fighters in the world to being convicted of sexual assault.
