28- year old British boxer Connor Coghill forced into retirement after suffering a brain hemorrhage

The rising British boxer Connor Coghill had recently fought a featherweight fight against Hopey Price for the WBA continental title. The fight was on the Leigh Wood vs. Josh Warrington card on October 7, 2023, at the Utilita Arena Sheffield. The fight between Coghill and Price went on for 12 rounds until Price was finally able to stop him. However, the aftermath of the fight and the damage that Coghill sustained have become life-changing for Coghill.
Furthermore, Coghill suffered his first loss in his fight against fellow unbeaten featherweight sensation Price, who successfully defended his title. However, the fight was not easy at all for either fighter, as both kept fighting until the final round.
Across the fight, Price managed to knock down Coghill in the 6th round, 11th round, and twice in the 12th round. Even though Coghill kept on fighting, the referee decided to call off the fight after Coghill’s fourth knockdown.
Sadly, the damage that Coghill suffered from those four knockdowns would prove to be life-changing for the young boxer. Furthermore, after the fight, Coghill reported feeling a strange headache, which resulted in hospitalization. At the hospital, it was revealed that Coghill had sustained a brain bleed because of the fight.
Subsequently, Coghill remained in the hospital for some time, and gradually his condition stabilized. However, the situation is still grim, as Coghill’s manager, Stefy Bull, revealed that Coghill will have to retire since he suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Before the fight, both fighters had remained undefeated, and it was anticipated that Coghill wouldn’t prove to be a challenge. Coghill showed his immense fighting spirit and delivered an excellent performance before ultimately fading away in the last round. Price tried to maintain a distance and fight with his jab, but Coghill charged at him regardless.
Coghill was able to damage Price considerably, but after the sixth round, Price caught Coghill with several counterpunches. Eventually, the damage that Coghill suffered across the fight, especially in the four knockdowns, caused him to retire.
Furthermore, fans expressed their love and respect for the British boxer and praised him for his stellar performance. Subsequently, fans stated how happy they were that Coghill’s condition was stable now and wished him a speedy recovery.
