The sport of boxing just pulled a page off an epic storyline that runs through the Rocky and the Creed franchise and Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are at the centre of it. Chris Eubank Jr is the son of legendary boxer Chris Eubank Sr. Eubank Sr fought at middleweight, super-middleweight and cruiserweight. Eubank Sr retired with a record of 45-5 and 2 draws with 23 wins via knockout. His son, Eubank Jr is active and is currently 33-2 with 23 wins by knockout.

After a long process of negotiations that were anticipated to come to fruition, both Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will fight each other carrying on their fathers’ legacies and extending a chapter of their legendary rivalry. The fight will take place on October 8, 2022, a day before the 29th anniversary of the rematch between Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn. The fight will happen in the O2 Arena in London, England.

In reaction to the finalisation of their bout, both the fighters responded. “He’s walked the same path as I have. I know his struggle. Living in the shadow of a legend and trying to break out of that shadow and make his own name. If he can beat me, his name will be made, and he will never walk in his father’s shadow again,” says Eubank Jr when talking about C. Benn.

“To me this fight is personal – it’s more than titles and rankings, this is unfinished business between our families… All I know is that from my side, this will be an all-out war, last man standing. Neither will give up until the last bell rings, says C. Benn on Eubank Jr.

What do you make of this fight and who do you think wins? As mentioned before, the storyline is partially similar to what Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky franchise extended into when the Creed franchise took place. Are you Team Eubank or Team Benn all the way?
