Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano fought their way out of danger in the middle rounds, providing one of the best female fights of all time, and Taylor maintained her undisputed world lightweight belts at MSG Arena on a historic night for women’s boxing this year, when she appeared to be on the verge of forcing a stoppage.
In front of a raucous crowd, Taylor received a split decision from two of the three judges, demonstrating that the best female fighters can hold a sold-out crowd’s attention with riveting intensity.
Last year, Serrano successfully defended her WBO and WBC featherweight belts. In weight classes ranging from 115 to 140 pounds, she has won seven world titles. Serrano has a new job.

The loss hasn’t been too hard on Amanda Serrano as the fight granted her 7 figure pay-check and worldwide recognition. Recently, she tweeted out “Hey y’all had my first beers with my sponsors medalla official. I did a Stone Cold Steve Austin. Hell Yeah lol”
Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul are contending for a rematch between Serrano and Taylor, Serrano’s promoter, who will be enthused about the proposal. Hearn has expressed interest in rematching Taylor in Ireland, where he is revered as a true national sporting and cultural hero, maybe more than any other current fighter in the world.
The rematch may be a potential fight down the line and it would be a treat for fans and a spectacle once again with stakes even higher this time around.
