Anthony Pettis wants to fight UFC legend Anderson Silva in a boxing bout. Reveals they were supposed to fight in UFC.

Anthony Pettis recently made his boxing debut after years of inactivity against former boxing champion Roy Jones Jr which Pettis won via majority decision. After winning his first-ever boxing bout, Pettis was incredibly motivated and mentioned his intentions to fight former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva. During the post-fight press conference, Pettis revealed that he will talk to his coaches about the fight but given his last performance he wants to box more.
He said: “I would love to fight Anderson Silva and that was supposed to happen in the UFC. I think for me, the weight definitely matters but imma pay attention to my coaches. I think we will be strategic in the fights that I take but I’m having fun with this.”
Both Pettis and Silva are legends of UFC and during their primes were unstoppable and had an enormous fan following. It is expected that a lot of people will definitely tune in to see these fighters take on each other inside the squared circle.
Here is what happened at Anthony Pettis vs Roy Jones Jr
The fight was organized by Gamebred Boxing and took place inside the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. It was Anthony Pettis’s first ever boxing bout as the fighter was previously fighting Professional Fighters League for some time after quitting UFC.
On the other hand, Roy Jones Jr came back inside the ring after his last exhibition bout against Mike Tyson in 2020. The anticipation of the fight was huge and The former UFC lightweight champion put on a great performance and won the fight via majority decision. Two judges scored the bout 77-75 and 78-74 for Pettis, while a third judge scored it a 76-76 draw.
It was an amazing fight and fans enjoyed watching these icons of combat sports going after each other. It seems like combat sports fans are willing to watch former sports legends making a comeback and fighting again.
