Gervonta “Tank” Davis is the best lightweight boxer in the world. After his victory over Ryan Garcia, boxing fans and analysts hailed Davis as the “face of boxing.” Before his fight with Garcia, Davis had a run-in with law enforcement over a hit-and-run case. However, the court came to a favorable decision for Tank.
Boxing reporter Michael Benson posted about the details of the verdict. According to public records, the court sentenced Gervonta Davis to 90 days of house arrest at his trainer’s home and three years of probation. He has to serve 200 hours of community service to complete the court sentence.
Michael Benson wrote, “Gervonta Davis has NOT received jail time and instead been sentenced to 90 days of home detention, plus 200 hours community service after he pled guilty to four traffic offenses in a plea deal relating to a hit-and-run in Nov 2020. Also three years of probation.” Davis and his fans will rejoice at the verdict. Concerns remained in Davis’s camp about a potential prison sentence. However, Davis received a favorable ruling.
Tank Davis had a hit-and-run incident in November 2020, where four people got injured. One of the victims was pregnant at that time. In February 2023, Davis pled guilty to four counts from the incident. Incidents like this will end in prison, but Davis will remain under house arrest instead. Tank has been involved with multiple run-ins with law enforcement that reminds boxing fans of Mike Tyson.
