Canelo Alvarez won his bout against Jermell Charlo via unanimous decision after a 12-round brawl. Subsequently, the clash featured the undisputed light middleweight champion and the undisputed super middleweight champion going head-to-head. Alvarez put a ton of pressure on Charlo and dominated him for the majority of the bout.
Across the fight, Charlo attempted to move around and hit Canelo Alvarez with hard shots to keep him at bay. However, this strategy did not work against the Mexican boxer, who even managed to knock him down in the seventh round. After the fight, Alvarez was asked who his next opponent might be, with the possibility of it being David Benavidez. Subsequently, Alvarez stated, “I don’t know. I don’t f—ing care.”
The interviewer also asked Alvarez about his body and physical condition, and Alvarez stated he was satisfied with them. In addition, Alvarez said he worked out for three months and even trained in the mountains alone. Alvarez noted that his love for boxing still burned brightly within his heart, and he would continue to work hard. Furthermore, Alvarez felt that he was back in peak physical condition after suffering from an injury to his left wrist.
Alvarez’s injury led to his underwhelming performance against Dmitry Bivol, but Alvarez felt he had proven himself after defeating Charlo. Hence, Alvarez remains very confident about himself and feels that this version of him can beat anybody, even Benavidez.
Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo
Alvarez defended his WBO, WBC, WBA, and IBF belts for the third time, and he became the first person to do so. Furthermore, Canelo has elevated his status as the undisputed super middleweight champion by defeating the undisputed light middleweight champion, Charlo.

Before the fight, Alvarez stated that he was highly motivated to win this fight because of Charlo’s trash talk. On several occasions, Alvarez noted that Charlo would witness his superior skills, and he did so by skillfully outpointing him across 12 rounds. In a post-fight interview, Alvarez stated that his goal was to KO Charlo or to fight 12 rounds and prove who was the better boxer.
Charlo is an expert technician inside the ring, and he avoided several punches to the head. Furthermore, he was able to land several blows on Canelo Alvarez, but Charlo wasn’t able to dominate the fight the way Alvarez did.
