Canelo Alvarez clearly does not like rival Gennady Golovkin. The legendary Mexican boxer rips apart his upcoming rival ahead of their trilogy fight.
Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin know each other a little too well. The two fighters have spent a lot of time inside and outside the boxing ring over the course of their two fights in the past. The veteran from Kazhakstan has bad-mouthed the Mexican a few times according to Canelo. After going 1-0-1 against GGG, Canelo is looking to end the rivalry with a highlight win.
The first time the two met in the octagon, the fight ended in a majority draw. The rematch was booked a year later in 2018 where Canelo managed to get a win via majority decision and take a lead in his rivalry against the veteran boxer. Now, in 2022, coming off a loss against Bivol in a super light heavyweight matchup, Alvarez wants to knockout the 40-year-old GGG. In a recent TMZ Sports interview, Canelo spoke about his fierce rival.
Canelo Alvarez absolutely “hates” Gennady Golovkin
“He’s a f***ing asshole. He talks a lot of s*** about me. He’ll say, ‘I respect him, his career.’ And other part he says, ‘He’s an embarrassing boxer, he’s embarrassing for Mexican boxing.’ I hate that motherf***er because of that,” said Canelo in his recent interview with TMZ Sports.
Alvarez is not a guy that has faced many defeats in his career. However, his loss against Bivol has done nothing but boosted Alvarez with confidence and a sense of pride for going up a weight class and taking on a huge challenge. The Mexican boxer recently became the undisputed champion and has shown a work ethic like no other champion in the sport of boxing.
Alvarez has promised to end the fight against GGG in under 12 rounds. “My goal is to end this fight before the 12 rounds,” said Canelo. After the fight against Golovkin, it is very likely that Canelo will look to take on Bivol in another matchup.
