Chris Eubank has opened up about his split with his son’s team, claiming that Chris Eubank Jr. “never listened”. A rift between Eubank and his son surfaced in October ahead of a planned fight between Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn. The bout later collapsed after it was revealed that Benn had failed two drug tests. Although the matchup has been set again, Eubank is dead set against it. Especially, after Eubank Jr’s loss to Liam Smith.

Speaking to Boxing Socials’ Andi Purewal, along with Harlem Eubank, he said:

Junior left me to go down. The calibre of Liam Smith does not beat Chris Eubank Jr on my watch. Junior on my watch is not supposed to lose to Liam Smith; on the watch of these PE teachers anything can happen, and anything did. He has never listened.

Benn and Eubank Jr. were part of perhaps the most stretched-out fighting rivalry yet to make it inside the ring. Last October, the pair were to reignite a mutli-decade family feud that began with their fathers. But the plan was pulled with Benn failing his doping test.

Eubank Jr. suffered a recent skid to Liam Smith via fourth-round TKO in January. The pair’s scheduled rematch fell through due to an injury suffered by Smith. The rematch did however happen, with Eubank Jr. ending up a victor. At the post-fight interview, he made a callout to Benn again.

Conor Benn is open to taking out both of the Eubank brothers

Conor Benn wasted no time in responding to Chris Eubank Sr. As such, Benn seems determined to face Chris Eubank Jr. Later this year, he is willing to face both brothers, Chris Eubank Jr. and Harlem Eubank. Taking to X, ‘The Destroyer’ responded to the legend’s comments and made it clear that he wouldn’t shy away from fighting ‘Next Gen’.

Eddie Hearn stated just this week, that the fight is in the final stages, for a late December bout. Hearn had reached out to the fighters as soon as Eubank Jr. made the callout. However, the fight isn’t signed off on yet. So while the timeline is a tad bit uncertain, it does not stop the fighters from making callouts.

Based on his commentary, it seems Benn has aspirations to face Harlem Eubank as well.
