Claressa Shields warns Jake Paul against using Canelo Alvarez’s name for clout
Claressa Shields gives Jake Paul zero chance at ever beating Canelo Alvarez
Jake Paul has been recognized as a professional boxer. He’s unbeaten and has defeated some formidable opponents. Jake turned pro in 2020, despite having fought former MMA fighters and boxing champions in the ring. Since then, he has shown remarkable growth and potential. However, the extent to which Paul and his current glory may be acknowledged is limited. He’s slammed Conor Mcgregor, Mike Tyson, and Canelo Alvarez, to name a few.
Paul has declared on multiple occasions that he wishes to fight the pound-for-pound king. However, he recently revealed the genuine reason for this. In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, he said that Canelo Alvarez has been avoiding huge fights, which has piqued his interest in fighting the Mexican.
Paul stated, “Canelo is ducking a lot of people. Fight Benavidez, fight Charlo, why aren’t those fights happening and you know, he’s not fighting any really big names, these guys are relatively unheard of. That’s why I wanna get my hands on Canelo as well. I think that will be a massive, massive pay-per-view and massive, massive entertainment spectacle.”
Canelo Alvarez, according to Claressa Shields, is invincible against Jake Paul
Shields does not believe Paul is capable of defeating Canelo Alvarez in the ring. Canelo was heavily criticized after he fell to the Russian champion via unanimous decision. However, the WBA, WBC, and IBF Women’s Middleweight Champion Claressa Shields came to his defense and applauded Alvarez’s desire to chase greatness.
Recently, in an interview with the Schmo when asked about that match-up “If you want to fight someone like Canelo, you must fighter and not be using names for clout”
Shields (12-0, 2 KOs), a two-time Olympic gold winner, is one of women’s boxing’s most accomplished current competitors today. In July, she will face Savannah Marshall (12-0, 10 KOs), a competitor. When both were amateurs, the Brit beat Shields in 2012. Shields’ sole blemish on his amateur and professional records is the defeat.
While not yet confirmed, Jake Paul’s next bout appears to be set for August, with the boxer poised to make his long-awaited comeback to the ring. And his opponent will be the man he was supposed to fight last year, Tommy Fury, a.k.a. the Love Island 2019 finalist.
