Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi are both professional fighters, mainly from two separate sports. Subsequently, they gained widespread attention for their involvement in a high-profile sparring session in 2017. Conor McGregor, known for his success in mixed martial arts and his charismatic personality, was preparing for his highly anticipated boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Paulie Malignaggi, a former two-weight world boxing champion, joined McGregor’s training camp as a sparring partner. However, their relationship quickly became contentious. There was controversy surrounding leaked photos and videos from their sparring sessions. Malignaggi claimed that the images were misleading.
He was pushed down during one of the sessions, while McGregor and his team maintained that the latter dominated Malignaggi in the sparring sessions. Hence, their relationship has become very bitter, and they have been throwing shade at each other for years. In addition, recently, McGregor retweeted a post that has now been deleted.
He wrote in his deleted post, “Who is the worst world champion of all time? Besides Paulie malignaggi” While Malignaggi stated that the leaked sparring session was misleading and not his actual performance, after viewing the sparring sessions, it became apparent that McGregor overwhelmed Malignaggi because of his striking skills.
The tension between McGregor and Malignaggi led to speculation about a potential boxing match between the two. However, a fight between them never materialized, and their feud seems to be continuing years after the sparring session.
Paulie Malignaggi feels that Jake Paul can beat Conor McGregor
Malignaggi has continued his criticism of McGregor’s boxing skills for years because of their animosity after their sparring session. Furthermore, he has asserted that the Irishman would be defeated by an influencer boxer. Their feud started when Conor McGregor invited the former champion to train with him during his fight camp.
The two fighters trained together twice, and they had a sparring session once for eight rounds and once for twelve. Video footage of one of the sessions was later released, appearing to show the former champion being KOed by McGregor. After Malignaggi and ‘The Notorious’ both had conflicting memories of what happened at the camp, Malignaggi decided to leave.
Subsequently, Paulie Malignaggi asserted that he had been pushed to the ground, while McGregor maintained that it was a knockout. The two fighters have since avoided each other. Furthermore, Malignaggi has made it clear he’s not a fan of Conor McGregor, slamming his boxing skills and saying he doesn’t have a chance against guys like Jake Paul.
According to the former world champion boxer, the Irishman doesn’t have any talent or “balls. Subsequently, Malignaggi stated that Paul can KO McGregor because Paul hits hard enough and McGregor’s boxing skills are sloppy.
